Heron
Without the sale of Carroll we probably wouldn't have seen one of the greatest comebacks of all time either, IIRC.
midds
Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall on the day that deal was done. Doubt we'll ever get the real version of events but £35m changing hands and Carroll leaving/forced out. Don't think anyone could have foreseen what happened. Fugazi
Rumours going around he could be out for 4 months with an ankle problem. Such a shame the way his career is going. I have heard on more than one occasion that his ankle is fucked over the last year like. Yeah but ankle in London means Mam or Dad's brother.
LRD
His style of play is more to due his injuries than his life style for me, he keeps getting ankle injuries and quite frankly he wouldn't be the first big striker to suffer that. Surprised no one mentioned Duncan Ferguson yet.

Tsunami
My info is that they have no real idea how long he'll be out for and hope to know more once he's seen the specialist. I didn't see it but apparently their new expensive midfield signing took a bit of a naughty challenge against Wellington and isn't expected to be fit for the start of the season. Still says that it's complete bonkers behind the scenes.

merlin
I hope the club - under Pardew's requests - have not been basing the new season on being able to sign Carroll as the main striker because if so, a struggle lies ahead. Even though the guy is out of action until December, I wouldn't put it past idiot to keep hanging his hat on Carroll returning. Time to drop all this and get a proper goal-scorer signed and preferably, one who isn't injury prone...
loki679
We don't have anyone left who'll command a decent fee to pay for a new striker. Krul possibly but you would hope that even Pardew wouldn't want blob jelliot as his number one.

Jackie Broon
Think Ferguson was a lot more of an intelligent player and less of the battering ram that Caroll is. Carroll was infinitely more than just a battering ram, when he played for us. Many people, including myself, were gutted that we accepted that £35m. In hindsight it was the right decision, but in the intervening years a lot of people seem to have forgotten just how good he was back then.
