RIP Joe Kinnear (1946–2024)

Shearer said on MOTD he didn't know what Kinnear even did there. Thought just occurred to me: perhaps Kinnear was only ever appointed as a fall guy/scapegoat to provide cover for Mike's intention to sign fuck all players this season.

But that would just be rank cynicism, wouldn't it?

If that was the case he would have been sacked on Saturday at the latest.

Splitting hairs a bit there non?

If Ashley was so pissed with him for not signing players for 2 windows then why would he have been sitting happily next to him at the Sunderland game?, why didn't he sack him then?, why didn't he sack him on Sunday? In fact JFK went after 5pm on the following Monday when it was clear people were handing back their season tickets.

Suggestions that Mike Ashley had been  frustrated by lack of arrivals in last 2 windows. There was a budget. #nufc

you fucking what?!!

If this is true it's actually more scary than the alternative in a way. Means Ashley actually thought JFK could do a job.

I'd agree. And Joe's limitations when it comes to a conventional DOF role would have become apparent very early.

At the time he was appointed, despite all he was saying, there was word that Joe was not nearly as powerful as he was making himself out to be.

There's always the possibility that this was a genuine resignation. That he got fed up of the restrictions around him, and ended up having a row with the boss.

:serious: are you joking?

Desperate attempt by Ashley to lighten the mood and stop the flood of ST cancellations.

Probably true this. Don't think Ashley has any genuine plan he just makes these choices off the cuff. He'll be scratching his head wondering what his next move is.

Are you ever right?  They weren't at the game.

Anything's possible TBH. It's also possible that Joe failed to do a couple of deals. Ashley has definitely made decisions as bad as appointing JFK in a genuine DOF role.

Hardly cynicism, it's what most fans seem to think.

For a self made very successful man, it was one hell of a fucking mental decision. What a prat

well its not like he hasn't made mental decisions before

That is very true.

Mental decisions to us. For him, probably perfect.

This old chap needs to speak out more for us:

Joe Kinnear's exit is irrelevant when it comes to the big picture at Newcastle. Nothing will change until Mike Ashley sells up. #nufc

Who are Ashley's other mates in football? Chances are they'll be the next fuckwit through the door to heap laughter on the club.

Dunno, what other London-based fuckwit dinosaurs commonly related to the 1990s drink in his local?

It's not a solution, but it's not irrelevant. It's fucking brilliant that he's not associated with the club any more.
