A Belgian site's report on the Altidore failed bid...

"Sunderland, a suburb of Newcastle".

Pretty incisive stuff from the Belgians I would say. Chickentown increasingly is a suburb of the regional capital, and will remain so until that one-horse burg's council gets it's act together. It's only misplaced civic pride from the mackems that stops them admitting it.

Tor-Kristian Karlsen ‏@karlsentk  47s

Good move by Sunderland securing the services of Charis Mavrias from Panathinaikos. Only 19, attacking mf/winger with plenty of potential

Beew.

He would've been the one good one ;D Although we can hardly laugh right now :(

Benjamin Mendy is supposed to be a promising player. Other than that they appear to have signed a load of lower division forrins marra.

Hilarious....trying to bid for decent players n that. Source is abysmal too, don't blame Peruzzi though. Would have him here in a heartbeat.

Course we can.

Looks like they're losing their 3 best players - which for us would be the rough equivalent of losing Krul, Colo and Ben Arfa.

They've got a nut job fascist from the 4th division dismantling their playing staff while effectively all we've done is appoint Joe FuKinnear as a director.

I know which I'd find funnier.

Prediction based on nowt, he'll not make more than 40 Premier League starts for Sunderland. He'll either not make it and go back to France, or he'll be mint and snapped up within 2 seasons.

Alkmaar Zaanstreek agreed to sell the rights to striker Jozy Altidore to Sunderland Association Football Club of the English Premier League, sources close to the situation confirmed Friday.

Financial terms of the transfer fee agreed upon between AZ and Sunderland were not disclosed.

Altidore’s transfer is contingent upon him passing a physical, which is scheduled for Monday, with the Sunderland medical staff.
