Kimbo
Teams usually get a points deduction even if it's just for 1 games, they do it for 4 games and they get a secretive fine?!
nufc4eva
There will be hell on if they stay up by a point like, and rightly so MK Dons should kick up a fuss or look at legal action as potential lost revenue.
Wilson
Hope a few of you have taken a leaf from the RTG book of Napolean Complex and wrote a letter of pure disgust to the FA.
BlueStar
So the authorities have known since October, how were they able to continue on the cup? Varadi
I'm sure Poyet will have very strong feelings about the matter: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1265392/Hartlepool-plead-innocence-Brighton-boss-Gus-Poyet-demands-points-deduction-fielding-suspended-Gary-Liddle.html
Spider Jerusalem
The precedent has already been set in the Premier League after the West Ham / Sheffield United fiasco. Nowt will happen apart from the fine. Unfortunately.

Big Geordie
Reading these two pieces above, I can't see how the FA can justify the punishment what they have given to the mackems? One rule for PL clubs and another for the rest it would seem! Corruption.
AyeDubbleYoo
What are the precedents in the Premier League, are there any?
Stray Mackem
FFS lads, they could deduct us 10 points, it makes no difference. We're down regardless
Foluwashola
Playing the useless nonce was a self-enforced points deduction tbf.
Exiled in Texas
Based on other events - teams lost all points gained in games where they fielded an illegible player (so minus 1pt from the Southampton tie) and a team was also deducted 1pt for fielding an illegible player in a game that they lost (so minus another 3 points). Which would put them on 21 points
jdckelly
How the hell can they not have a points deduction? At the very least it should be the point gained in that time. Premier League opening themselves up big time to court action if sunderland finish 17th 1 point or goal difference ahead of somebody.

midds
They'll just informally instruct the referees to ensure that they go down to avoid any potentially embarrassing legal entanglements from other stragglers. Bad decisions coming their way. Very fucking Machiavellian.
jdckelly
Also the point was gained against Crystal Palace, were I them I'd be beyond pissed off over it.

cp40
Just read this..... eeesh! Worth remembering that Margaret Byrne sits on the board of the FA Council, she represents the Premier League on that board. From the outside looking in, it could appear that she is using her influence on that board to try and sweep this under the carpet. Don't think we've heard the last of this. It was not a case of cheating, but they made a mistake and that player should not have been on the pitch so the three points should go to the opposition.
