We "were" affected by the World Cup?! We haven't even had our first post-World Cup thrashing yet.  Unless he means our transfer business, which would be equally laughable.

WUM on the wind-up, again.

He is suggesting that players minds were on the world cup, which is just ludicrous

Oh God, even worse.

What's with the uproar to all this ?

Apart from Chelsea, hardly anyone as bought players in PL due to the World Cup.

It's hardly an outlandish claim, with that said we won't buy anyone anyway but still its clear as always the World Cup is a factor for transfer business in general.

Huh? We were talking about him saying the World Cup affected our second half of last season.

He seems to be blaming our poor end to the season on the upcoming WC, rather than our failings in the transfer market.

Ah the World Cup made us hoof the ball repeatedly against Sunderland, not attack at all in games, surrender at Southampton, set penises, refusal to use Hatem or Marv.

Aye, seems plausible.

Pardew is never going to change, he's an abortion of a manager. 6 weeks to look at what went wrong and the best excuse he can come up with is the World Cup. He's a joke.

Few questions:

1) Why did our players start to focus on the World Cup before the Xmas decorations were down?

2) Why were we so hampered when we had so few players actually there?

3) Why did it not affect other teams in the same way? Southampton for example.

4) Why is he unable to focus his squad's attention for only half a season?

Indeed.

I agree with him.  Shola's form really dipped in the second half of the season, which really affected our fret.
