TaylorJ_01
I'm at the stage where I don't want these talented guys here sad, I know, but would be a waste.
Jordan
I'm at the stage where I don't want these talented guys here sad, I know, but would be a waste. hideous isn't it, they'll either be on the bench, out of position or getting the blame whenever we lose. sempuki
@GFN_France: Younes Belhanda: 'Newcastle also (interests me), but it is a level below Arsenal.' #AFC #NUFC #MHSC #DK He is being quite kind there.
Eddy Chibas
I'm at the stage where I don't want these talented guys here sad, I know, but would be a waste. Crazy situation like. "Nah don't sign him! He's talented!" Aye, I'm still relieved we didn't sign Aubameyang. Warms my heart that he's having a solid season, and working under a coach of the highest calibre. Would have been a sad to watch Alain Pardoit deconstruct him.
kaotikuk
Itd be nice if we bought soem good quality proven players, instead of the french ones that jsut go crap after a few games. Altho with pardew any player will turn crap i guess. But it would be nice to be excited for a a transfer window for once.
Unbelievable
You must have missed yesterday's mission statement. Transfers are risky to the club's financial stability, hence to be avoided at all cost.
sugoinufc
don't even think signing 4-5 quality players would make me happy. I was not really happy when we had that "great" run earlier this season...
Lenny
So out of interest, would people rather: 1) A decent sized transfer kitty for Pardew to spend in the summer or 2) Forfeit a transfer kitty/use it to sack Pardew, and work with the squad we have for a year. Personally I think I'd rather work with what we have and get rid of him, even if we would have limited attacking capabilities. With the right manager I think there's enough to work with in the squad to get significantly more than we're currently getting. IMO it would be taking a step back to take 2 forwards. Like many others, I feel like it doesn't matter who we bring in, we'll ruin them.
Chapo
In reality it'll be a combination of the 2. Forfeit a transfer kitty and have Pardew work with what we have

I think our best players have had it with him! Cant see him changing it. He can´t make us play modern and exciting football which attracts good young players. Im afraid players like Cabella will think twice about coming here for further delevopment...the montpellier nut case might have a point! Im afraid the damage have been done....hope I'm wrong and extremely pessimistic

We will never be spending any significant sums or showing any ambition whilst Ashley is here, so let's at least get a manager in that can get the most out of what we have. Surely that's the perfect scenario for Ashley as well, maximise the output of what we have so he doesn't need to spend as much. Rather than being the vicious cycle we're in now, it can be a more positive (albeit with a roof) cycle.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
This opinion piece from Bob Moncur. It doesn't really fit into any thread so I put it here as Moncur mentions transfers. You'd never guess he was on the club's payroll. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bob-moncur-newcastle-uniteds-success-6932914 Bob Moncur: Newcastle United's success in the French market in the past means it isn't all doom and gloom at St James' Apr 08, 2014 Newcastle United’s challenge of restructuring their squad for next season is already under way at St James’ Park. Bascially, the Magpies must look to repeat the success in the transfer market they’ve already in the last few years. It’s a tough task competing with those in the top six given that billions are being poured into the transfer war chests at places like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United, Man City and even Liverpool and Everton. Newcastle have made it clear they are working on a much more limited budget and Alan Pardew has been honest enough in public to tell us this will be a “slow build”. The life of a Premier League manager outside of the top six is tough. Just look at the scenario for Chris Hughton at Norwich City. He was battling away against relegation and for me he was doing a good job in tough circumstances. Unfortunately, he wasn’t allowed to complete the job he started. It reminded me of how tough it is being a football manager and on days like that I am glad I am no longer part of the game in that way. It is also quite scary how quickly your stock dips as a manager when you hit a rocky patch. After a few bad results you get the boot. Alan Pardew’s job is now to help attract players to Newcastle United in the next few months. It’s a difficult task as the club are competing with the top six clubs and there are a host of players who want to play in the Premier League but are only interested in the London clubs. So that’s the top six then teams like West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and possibly even Crystal Palace if a player is determined to live in London. This isn’t a new problem, it has always been that way. The scouting staff here though have done a good job under the guidance of chief scout Graham Carr. It’s meant that players like Mathieu Debuchy, Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse (who was a good signing when he first arrived), Yohan Cabaye and Loic Remy have all been on the books. We know this summer that some players will be going out and others coming in. Yes, it is only April but time flies and the hard work has already started. It takes a lot of convincing to get a player to come here and not into the top five. How do you get somebody to play here rather than Chelsea? It’s tough, as I say. From what I understand though there is money to spend this summer and when the deals have been right Mike Ashley has released funds in the past. It isn’t rocket science or speaking out of turn to say we need new blood. So it is getting back to bringing in players of the calibre of Ba and Cabaye in the next few months. The knowledge the club has of the French market is there for all to see. They just need to repeat it in the coming months. Like everybody else, it was disappointing to see the 4-0 loss to Manchester United but it was another example of what a hard unforgiving league this really is. In the end, Newcastle were outclassed by Man United but the opening half was a big improvement. It just goes to show that you must take your chances in the Premier League. Fans were booing the team at the end but they stuck with the team in the 90 minutes. That will never change. The season is coming to an end but things could be a lot worse and how many teams would take 46 points in the bag at this stage? Quite a few if you ask me, but the story is already moving on to next season. If the history of signing some top players under the current policy is to repeat itself, then there could be happier times around the corner.
