Mole_Toonfan
Awful appointment. Only knows how to play one way and will never compromise. Probably one of the biggest frauds in football considering the jobs he’s getting. Yep, going back to his Valencia days he's incredibly negative anytime the pressure is on. His approach to big games is absolutely terrible. Unless you watch his teams consistently you don't know that but it's clear to anyone who does. Guest firetotheworks
Really weak appointment IMO. Don't rate him at all.
SEMTEX
Don't think the Arsenal style argument is relevant personally. Think he's just a bit shit.
The College Dropout
They saw all those 4th place finishes and licked their lips. Not an exciting appointment at all. Arteta might’ve been better.
jdckelly
He's actually managed and won things which automatically makes him a better choice than Arteta though the impression it gives me isn't that Arsenal want to go all out to be the best around but try to go back to making money existing in perpetual 4th place
GM
Goint to the Emeryates Given that club's recent history of humourous nomenclature-based appointments, I wouldn't be surprised.
toon25
I’d be more concerned as an arsenal fan for the reasons they were turned down by a 36 year old rookie. Doesn’t look like the new manager will have much say over incomings and outgoings.
Ketsbaia
Oh boy. Terrible idea from Arsenal. Not that Arteta was a great option either. 6th spot is up for grabs.
The College Dropout
Don’t want to compare Wenger to Pardew but there’s a big chance the board will finally get the grief they deserve. It’s the Arsenal board that have mandated 4th as their maximum target. This signing just exposed their lack of ambition imo. Arsene got the stick but he wasn’t the main problem. If things go bad it could get ugly. Not that I think Emery is a bad manager. It’s just not an exciting appointment. A specialist in 4th.

triggs
Think Arsenal and West Ham may both have been better off if they switched coaches
Deuce
I could understand this appointment if Arsenal wanted somebody fairly neutral to guide them along for a couple seasons while they rebuilt the club structure. But I don't know that they are actually rebuilding anything.

I really know nothing about him, but three UEFA cups in a row, would suggest that that statement can't be wholly accurate.
nemtizz
In that case it would make sense. I might be reading too much into it but giving out squad numbers when you don't have a manger/coach is weird. Seems they wanted another yes man.

KaKa
Oh boy ... this seems like a really bad appointment man This guy is more of a Mourinho type. Pretty dull football, and a pretty sour dude. Guess it's a win for Arsenal Fan TV though, there'll will be plenty reason to complain next season I imagine.
The College Dropout
One thing I find interesting is how managers are perceived and it's difficult for them to change it. Think everyone thought Emery did a very good job at Valencia. Fans didn't like him much. They've not been CL regulars since he left. Good job at Sevilla, strengthened his rep. Then gone to PSG and lost all credibility with the players walking all over him.
KaKa
He may very well not be good with players with big reputations, and to be fair Arsenal don't have many of those. Apparently Arteta didn't want to be just a coach without full and final decision on transfers. Emery is willing to go ahead with that. We'll see he may very well revert to his Valencia and Sevilla days. Should be interesting.

Probably accurate. 3rd tops, 5th and a cup probably an acceptable season. Probably a better chance of getting to the CL via the EL than the league. FinnMag
Arsenal needs to rebuild, i wonder if Emery is the right manager to do that? But their fans demand big name manager, so there he is.

Decky
Very good appointment for them. With the right backing he could be a Benitez type figure for the West Ham fans.
