samptime29
If Brighton get relegated under their new manager that doesn't prove they would have stayed up had they kept Hughton. If they get relegated, they've made the wrong decision.

If they get relegated, they've made the wrong decision. Nah, that would be to confuse outcome with the decision itself. They might make a bad appointment, they might make a good appointment but have injuries or bad player form. Any number of things could happen. Football is really weird like this, the result overrides everything else to a silly degree.

If they get relegated, they've made the wrong decision. It would mean the manager they replaced Hughton with had failed. It could also mean the quality of the other teams in the Premier League had improved (for example NUFC scored more points this season than last season but finished in 13th when it was 10th the season before). midds
Surely if they go down next season the mistake is appointing the wrong manager rather than binning Hughton? Hughton is a top bloke but the results have been awful for months now, they're fully justified on sacking him imo.

They've won 3 PL games in 23 games, that's falling off a cliff and the same happened to him at Norwich when the rot had set in.
samptime29
Hughton has never been relegated from the Premier League. Never been in bottom 3 with either the Toon or Brighton. There's a decent possibility they would stay up him next season, not a foregone conclusion. Their form has been turd recently, but many teams have had turd form this season and turned it around (Toon being one of them). Hughton might have turned it around, might not have. If they make the wrong appointment, and get relegated - will their fans be thinking, "ah well, we had to change managers, we were 100% going down with Hughton anyway?" Ketsbaia
Hopefully they get Graham Potter. Should sort one relegation spot for next season.

But we were talking about the sacking. It doesn't make sense to say the result overrides everything, we all know there are loads of factors at play. In sport and games you sometimes make all the right decisions and still lose. The result is hindsight.
Cronky
Brighton had a terrible second half of the season. Another month and Cardiff would probably have overtaken them. You wonder if there were problems between the players that Hughton wasn't able to address. I suspect this is a job to avoid.

You wonder if there were problems between the players that Hughton wasn't able to address. I suspect this is a job to avoid. There was definitely a problem with the players, they are all shite. One of the least inspiring squads you would see, based on graft and organisation. It's a miracle Hughton kept them up. If they are planning something exciting with a exciting new manager and a raft of new players, then great. I suspect they will hire someone worse than Hughton and waste a shit ton of money. They will be relegated next year IMO.
The Prophet
Definitely the correct decision. Blown a decent budget on absolute shite and they've been in free fall since Xmas .

LoveItIfWeBeatU
The West Brom owners were accused of being racist for sacking Darren Moore. If they appoint Hughton it'll just be so they can sack him down the line the racist bastards.

toon25
I thought WBA had appointed the Belgian assistant that worked under Martinez at the World Cup?
STM
Feels like a great fit Tempted to stick money on them winning the championship next year, especially if they can get Gayle.
Ketsbaia
I thought WBA had appointed the Belgian assistant that worked under Martinez at the World Cup? The bloke at the minute is a bit Shan, so it's good to go Hughton.
joeyt
I thought WBA had appointed the Belgian assistant that worked under Martinez at the World Cup? He was there as an assistant but now at Luton as manager
Tribesman
Nuno Espersito would probably be the best choice for Chelsea considering they have a transfer ban. https://twitter.com/GraemeBailey/status/1129114147088678914
