I think they’ve come to the end of their cycle under Rodgers and I can see them getting good money for Maddison and Tielemans for example, or enough to reinvest it into the squad adequately. They have a decent scouting system in place. They are about to post losses of 120 million, the highest in the prem. Does that class as well run ? Tiresias
Considering all the talk of the big six getting Leicester 5th two seasons in a row isn't terrible (one should have been 4th but for a bottle job) and a cup. He's clearly got strengths. They always seem to have recruited well too but then fail to refresh the squad badly. Tielemans was an excellent buy but you would have thought moved on for big money, same with Maddisson and then adequately replaced. Instead despite having saleable assets they have let their value drop and are posting astronomical losses and face losing players cut price or even for free. Somethings not right there. Jaqen
It looks like they've gambled a bit on being able to constantly finish in the European spots. They seem to be paying wages to the manager and players in line with a club that is an established top 6 side without really the resources to do so. Letting Tielemans run down his contract and leave on a free is awful business. They can't have a repeat of that with Maddison, someone is going to get him on a good deal if not in January then the summer. They've generally done realyy well in terms of recruitment and selling players on for massive fees at the right time. It's a hard model to sustain though and looks like they won't get top dollar for 2/3 of their high value assets left. Only really leaves Barnes as someone they can massively cash in on.. The owners are not doing that well right now and that negativity and uncertainty trickles down as it always does. The legacy of leaving such good facilities though will pay dividends at some point when they begin developing valuable talent. Mike Ashley’s wet dream to be honest. They've got 2-4 first team players from the academy already right? Thomas, Justin, Sold Chilwell, Dewsbury-Hall & Barnes

The College Dropout
Random but the general level of coaching in the PL has improved a lot and the managers are a lot more progressive. From the 17 clubs from last season, someone liek Hassenhuttl might rank among the weakest 5 and he clearly has some talent

They've took chances on paper that should have improved them but didn't work out on the pitch. Their model is good in theory but it relies on big sales being replaced with cheaper and better...which is difficult to maintain long term... unfortunately for them they've started to get greedy on the fees and are now stagnating with a manager who is not everyone's cup of tea and is now becoming disruptive

Lampard is just a bit more experienced. He’s probably the most PFM manager in the league. A really drab back 5 or a pretty negative 4 at the back but still can’t defend. He’s leaned into a team of hard runners and supposed good characters to drive them over 40 points. Which has value but is fairly basic. I can see Gerard following a similar route to try and be more solid. But lower mid table won’t be good enough for Villa like it is for Everton and there’s no Rafa or owner to blame. Gerrard does need to stop trying to be smart. Play a solid 11. His best team includes the likes of Bailey and doesn’t include Coutinho. He needs to take the L on that. Does that class as well run ? Yep. The whole 'romantic' notion of Leicester's rise has been one of the biggest load of bollocks in football. They've been funded by a billionaire owner, who got his money from a lucrative monopoly awarded by a dictator. The inevitable fall back to Earth is underway. At some point, you'd think the socially conscious football press who've incessantly called out NUFC's ownership would ask questions such as; how does one become a billionaire in a poor country run by an absolute monarchy? If your answer is 'hard work and business acumen', your answer may be incomplete ...

Gerrard is just Greame Souness mk 2, getting jobs because of his name and the fact he did ok in a two horse race in Scotland, he then comes south and is quickly found out by his limited ability so he starts falling out with players.
