The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Van Nistelrooy to Leicester | Lampard to Coventry

Recommended Posts

Sheff Utd would be mad to sack Wilder.

Why?

He's really a rather good coach and manager. On a hiding to nothing this season.

Pointless replacing a talent with a 'proven' PFM..what would you get out of an Allardyce/Hughes/Bruce??

Long term thinking stays stick with him and there will be more good times than bad, more 'success' than failure.

Sensible ownership.

Something we can only dream of.

I think at this stage it’d be pointless. They’re not going to stay up but they’ll be one of the favourites to come straight back up if they keep him, and it’s not as though his squad is likely to be dismantled.

Think a lot of clubs of that size see what Burnley did with Dyche and aim to copy it, rather than panicking and pulling the trigger. I think it's pretty sensible. Seems to be working for Norwich too.

The thing is he never would have been given the job in the first place if they weren’t banned from the transfer market.

He’s certainly not finished as a manager but he’s probably a little too green at the moment. He could have done with another 2/3 years before getting a job like that.

Chelsea hung him out to dry, not quite as bad as what this club did to Shearer but definitely used him to keep fans on side while they were regrouping

He shouldn't have got the job in the first place, but tbf it was a good chance for him as well, don't really think you can call it being hung out to dry. He could always have stayed at Derby.

Well now it'll be time to see whether he really wants to be a manager or not...if his ego gets in the way and wants a Premier League job then he could be waiting a long time, unless West Ham revert to type.

Possiby one of the South Coast teams if Uncle Harry sticks his face in

Would also be interesting to see how he gets on if he gets another championship club to run. Chelsea was probably a jump too far, suddenly dealing with superstar players when he's not built enough of a reputation as a manager to command immediate respect. He might well turn out to be a very good manager in the long term, but he'll have more credibility with a decent CV behind him.

Likewise Bournemouth to an extent. Promoted from within and their team is pretty much the one that went down.

Answered my own question: He's 6/4 favourite.

Wilder, having a disastrous second season in the PL and nailed on to go down, is twice his price at 3/1.

How fucking bad must Bruce be to be considered TWICE as likely to get the bullet as the fella rocketing down through the league with potentially a record low number of points.

That's more due to the fact that Newcastle are a much bigger club than Sheffield United and expectations are higher. I think a lot of people expected Sheffield United to struggle this year. Going down isn't anywhere as near damaging than if Newcastle were to drop again.

Sheffield's poor Goalkeeper and Forwards will take them down, Newcastle's disastrous management will take us down.

Cant really remember a drop off like this Sheff United one, maybe that Hull team the Phil Brown one? Pretty weird.

Ipswich.

Aye, went from challenging for a Champions League spot on the final day to relegation.

Not as extreme but didn't we do that under Pardew?

Could have qualified for the CL on the final day (if things went our way) then just about avoided relegation the next season

I think the drop to so little points if a lot worse though
