Carvahal to leave Swansea

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44064957

Coleman a possibility?

In terms of replacing Carvalhal, Former Wales striker Iwan Roberts thinks Chris Coleman could be a good fit at a club the Swansea-born former Wales manager played for from 1987-1991.

Coleman would be available after parting company with Sunderland following their relegation from the Championship.

"We're not sure who the manager will be next season, I know Chris Coleman's name has been linked with the club," Roberts told Post Cyntaf.

"One thing for certain, should Chris Coleman get the job, he would go into that changing room and shake things up because as someone from Swansea, he won't be happy with what's been happening at the club."

That must be why the cookie crumbled at Sunderland, he wasn't from there.

That's such shite, if they had paid any attention to the job he did a Sunderland, he couldn't motivate a similar group of old underperforming pros, if he gets another job anywhere, expect that club to struggle, he was abject at the Mackems, I know he walked into a bad situation but he did nothing to lift them out and in the end the task wasn't that difficult with one of the lowest points totals to survive since they went to 46 games.

Harsh on Carvalhal, they had 17 points when he took over and looked dead a buried, he went on a great run and looked safe, then hit a tough run of fixtures, couldn't get a win and confidence started to erode to the point where they were before he took over. Clement laid terrible foundations there for him. There will be slim pickings for them in a replacement, Carvalhal knows that division, not sure they will get any better. Certainly not if they go with Coleman.

Gonna be an interesting few days and weeks now the season is over, a lot of clubs could move on in terms of manager. Arsenal, WBA and Swnasea already are Stoke will probably join them making all three relegated teams looking for a new boss. Chelsea will probably can Conte after today's game (obviously not before the FA cup final). Think Spuds may lose Poch to a PSG or someone. Everton, West Ham, Leicester and Southampton could feel like it's in their best interests to head in a different direction. I think Wagner will move on from Huddersfield to something better, Dyche may also but the thought of playing in Europe with Burnley will be hard for him to walk away from. Then of course there is Rafa, hopefully Ashley for once does the right thing and ensures he's far from the discussion here.

See Poch agitating for more transfer funds or he'll walk. Their stadium seems to have cost more than twice what was estimated (who the fuck estimates these things, how do you get it that wrong?) and so apparently they need to sell to buy.

Think Kane may be gone in the close season, sell him and they can probably pay off that debt.

Double, where's that from? Entirely believable in this country mind.

They apparently want to raise £170m from selling Rose, Alderweireld, Wanyama and Dembele. They can do great things with that money, without needing to sell a star.

Spurs issue is the players they want either don't want to join them or they just don't pay enough wages to get them. Even if they got that amount (i'm skeptical) they'll struggle to get the players necessary as the players they'll want to get will be at clubs with higher prestige or pay more.

Best thing they can hope for is they sign someone like Salah who while talented wasn't really established to the level he is now.

Double? If that's the case they must beg Real to take Kane.

The view has sat uncomfortably with the cost of construction. It seems a long time ago that £400m was the ballpark figure. Then, it became £750m and £850m, and now, nobody would be surprised if it reached a billion. Tottenham have taken out £400m in bank loans, which are repayable over a five-year period. This month they announced in their financial results for the year ended 30 June 2017 that the “cumulative spend” on the project had increased from £115.3m to £315.1m.

Well maybe yeah, could get one big worldie statement buy and some solid business from that I suppose. Still when you'reo looking at 4 or 5 purchases that Poch will want to be competing with the top Champs League clubs for quality for that comes to a lot of money. Levy may sanction a big £100m purchase or something but elsewhere will want value I suspect, not the Sheik Mansour idea of 2 world class players for every position.

I reckon they'll get Walker-esque money for Rose (£50m probably from Man Utd), Alderweireld only has one year left after this but he's top drawer (maybe £30m), Wanyama possibly £25m and Dembele £35m max = £140m if they're lucky enough to shift them all in a shorter window.

Spurs fan I know (quite a few) reckon Rose is 100% off, as is Alderweireld and that they will 100% keep Kane and Poch.

They've been quite strongly linked with Sessegnon.

Wonder if they'll ditch Lamela and/or Sissoko too if Sessegnon arrives. Think they will lose one of Kane, Alli or Erikssen, the latter maybe most likely. Poch may leave because the overhaul will be too big and he knows they'll struggle to improve.

Rafa isn't going to be 'tempted' to another club for any reason than he does not believe he will get backing from Ashley. He quite clearly wants to stay and build a project, he's managed real madrid ffs he's not going to go and think hmmm things are good here but rather manage at that shithole london stadium.

Not to say it's unlikely he'll go, just if he goes it's on Ashley not poached. On the one hand it allows Rafa to pressure Ashley if he is wanted (albeit as if he'd struggle for employment anyway) but on the other gives Ashley an excuse (not my fault he was poached)

Yeah Erikssen is a good shout to be on the departure board tbf. I could easily see Lamela going too perhaps to fund Sessegnon.
