The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Van Nistelrooy to Leicester | Lampard to Coventry

Recommended Posts

Seems they need a total overhaul. Sell the likes of Alexis, Pogba, Lukaku, build around Rashford and Martial.

I'll be amazed if they can get rid of Alexis.

Seems like he’d be perfectly fine with a big $$$ move to China

7 losses in 9 isn't good no matter what way you look at it, but the reaction on here has been hilarious given the games that we've had.

Away to Arsenal, away to Wolves x2, Barca x2, City, away to Everton. Played Liverpool, PSG x2, Chelsea in the weeks before that too. Absolutely stinking run of fixtures that any manager would struggle with.

Big club in difficult fixtures shocker.

Maybe the press and a sizeable section of your support should have shown more balance instead of lavishing praise on him when he had a very good run of fixtures when he first came in?

Shouldn't Man Utd, a team that finished second under Mourinho last season, feel like they should get more out of those 9 games?  I guess now OGS is in charge, more excuses can be made.

(Jose won away at Everton and Arsenal last season; drew and beat Liverpool in their 2 league games; and beat City away)

The press got carried away. A sizeable section of our support stayed grounded. The vast majority, including myself believed and still believes he did enough to get a shot at the permanent gig. At the end of the day it isn't his team, and the turnaround was magnificent. He had a good run of fixtures when he came in but some excellent results after that. We beat Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester away from home and drew with Liverpool the weeks before this bad run.

I definitely think we should have got more out of those games. The manor of some of the defeats is what is worrying, not the results themselves. The Everton display an absolute disgrace. There's a lot of players that need shipped out this summer and I hope we don't cling on to "stars" in desperation. We need a complete overhaul. We're not a top footballing team anymore and need to treat the rebuild as such.

I genuinely wouldn't trust anyone at the club to lead the overhaul you desperately need.  Especially OGS.  You'd be better off cutting your loses and sacking him at the end of the season then finding yourself a manager with the quality to lead what should be the biggest football club in the world.

Baffling how Jose made clear all the issues with players at the club and ended up getting shafted.

Wolves have beat Arsenal and Chelsea and got a draw with City there as well. Everton beat Chelsea and Arsenal at Goodison and got a draw with Liverpool.

Are we going to pretend they're not good sides and very hard to beat at home?

you basically used to own goodison man, and wolves are a newly promoted team playing against your half a billion pound corporate machine

you've a fair point on fixtures, was more the contrast of current expectations vs. reality, but you've just handed the job to solksjaer it's no fucking good making excuses...manager of a club that size should be getting results, it's that simple

1 defeat in 5 for Rafa’s shitty lower mid table Mags in the equivalent. And we’re awful as you enjoy telling us.

We used to own Goodison because we used to be the best team in the country by a mile. We're not now. It's as simple as that. We haven't come close to winning the league in 6 years. Expectations need to be lowered.

Why?

You were the best team in the league and acted accordingly. If you now accept that you are Europa/maybe top 4 and act according to that you (generic, not specifically) will soon be telling the world that Man Utd are no longer a top 6 club and expectations should be lowered to mid table.

Facts are in the eyes of many Man U are still one of the biggest clubs in the world with a revenue stream to match, you should Billy Big Bollocks with this, not accept that you are yesterdays men.

I'm absolutely not accepting that we're yesterdays men and can't compete again, but this isn't a one transfer window fix. We can't win the league next year and certainly not the Champions League. A lot of our fans think we can just sign a CB and a RB in the summer and we'll be competing again. That's not how it works. City and Liverpool are so far ahead it's crazy. It took Klopp a few years to build this side though.

At what point do the Man Yoo fans start demanding Woodward steps down?

(And can we then make all sorts of absurd comparisons about the propensity of certain clubs’ fans to protest versus fans of other clubs?)

Not wanting him out but rather want him to install a footballing director of sorts.

He's amazing at the financial side of his job, but he's been making footballing decisions which have hindered the club, such as not wanting to pay £40m for Alderweireld and £50 for Perisic.

Join the club, we'd baulk at 50 quid for Perisic as well, at best we'd low ball at a tenner

We need centre backs. Completely fine in midfield and attack.

Go all out for Koulibaly and Skriniar and with someone like Poch we will challenge. Desperately need those centre backs though.

Sounds a bit like you thought you could compete with a couple of defenders tbh.
