Yeah, but what you haven’t said is that the standard is so much lower at Man Utd these days that not being good enough before is actually good enough now so it makes complete sense to appoint someone who wasn’t good enough in the past. Or something like that. Edited January 6 by bobbydazzla

Can we just remember the crucial fact that he's being appointed as a caretaker manager. Seems an important detail that many are leaving out.

He finished 2nd and 3rd. Your God Eddie Howe has spent £700m and hasn't done that. You wish your manager could produce "any old shit that's approaching mediocrity." Now settle down and stop making yourself look silly.

Give him £200m to spend and if he makes it till the end of the season without getting sacked he’s done better with the money than Amorim or Ten Hag did

Today you have been rejected by our manger, and our academy director. Imagine saying that 10 years ago, 5 years ago, or even 3 years ago. Come on, just admit it, you couldn’t care less if Ole comes back and gets you relegated and pumped out of the FA Cup this weekend, as long as you get to sing that nice little At The Wheel song again. Seems an important detail that many are leaving out. It's the fact that you defend everything and everyone whilst simultaneously admitting that standards have crashed to rock bottom. You'll not criticise any managers, you'll defend the board and their appointments/sackings and decisions and you'll defend the players. You're loyal to a fault but it makes you sound utterly ridiculous at times trying to pretend chicken shit is actually chicken soup. It's as fantastic, ridiculous, backward, hilarious, inconsistent and adorable in equal measures

My point is that you said that last time and you got rejected by so many mangers, that you made him your permanent manager, what’s to say that you won’t do the same? You actually have been, both examples are in the press. The fact is Man Utd should be going out and getting the only manager that is capable of doing the job, Simeone, but Simeone would treat the call from you as everyone else treats calls from unknown numbers, you’re lucky if they pick up the call. It's as fantastic, ridiculous, backward, hilarious, inconsistent and adorable in equal measures Do you want me to dig up criticisms from myself of the board, managers and players? There have been many, many instances, especially with players. I don't think I've really agreed with the sacking of any manager as well. I can say that I would have kept Amorim, but that I also don't think it's a mistake from the board given his press conference and recent results. I had hoped the rock bottom standards comment would be seen as it was meant as well and it was tongue in cheek. Rock bottom standards = Europa League qualification. Ole will bring that IMO. When he was in charge last time that might not have been enough to save his job, but a lot has changed in five years.

We made him permanent manager because he was smashing everyone left and right. It was nothing to do with being rejected by managers. We will always attract top players and managers. This summer will be no different.

He's spent the 7th most (less than the 'big 6") from having one of the worst squads in the Premier League. It should have taken about £200m just to claw our way up to mid-table. Mountain
£700 million is kind of wild actually. I didn't think it was that high but after researching it, it's even higher. Net spend is less than £500m though which makes it less eye watering
