He's going to be a massive miss, probably lose all the games without him there.

The press won't like this, they were demanding a 10 match stadium ban (well the daily mail were ), I think the punishment is fair but everyone has got their own view on it. I would not be surprised if the fa appealed the decision since they never carried out the review, plus the guardian are reporting that pardews advisor's exploited any previous punishments that the fa have given out to managers headbutting players, example was kidderminister

Can't see this deterring another manager btw, which is what it should do. Then again no manager is scum enough to try and nut someone.

Really? I can.

Other managers have stuff to play for.

Alan Pardew has been handed the heaviest punishment ever dished out to a Premier League boss over his infamous headbutt of an opposition player - but is set to ban HIMSELF from the touchline for even longer.

Newcastle manager Pardew was given a three-game stadium ban, banished from the touchline for an additional four matches and fined £60,000 after admitting improper conduct to an FA disciplinary hearing.

Pardew's assault on Hull midfielder David Meyler has now cost him £160,000 in fines, including £100,000 from his employers, plus huge damage to his reputation.

The 52-year-old will not be allowed to attend the Magpies' clash at Fulham this weekend, or the home games against Crystal Palace (March 22) and Everton (March 25).

He can be in the stands but won't be allowed to communicate with his coaches for the games at Southampton (March 29) and Stoke (April 12), and home to Manchester United (April 5) and Swansea (April 19).

When Pardew is eligible to fully take charge again, beginning at Arsenal on April 28, he will choose to stay in the stands for the start of games; and if he makes his way to the dug-out later in matches, he will stay seated and not prowl the pitch-side technical area.

Pardew said: "As I have made clear, I deeply regret the incident and again wholeheartedly apologise to all parties for my conduct, which I understand was not acceptable.

"I will accept the punishment handed down by the FA today. My focus now turns to preparing the team for this weekend's game against Fulham and finishing the season as strongly as possible."

The stadium ban means Pardew will give his pre-match team-talk at the Magpies' London hotel this weekend, then hand over the minute-by-minute decisions to his No.2, John Carver.

He will not be allowed any contact with his coaching team during the game, but will hold a post-match debrief when the players fly home.

Pardew's sentence has been criticised as lenient by some, but the Independent Regulatory Commission took into consideration his very early apology - which was made to television cameras within a couple of minutes of Newcastle's 4-1 win over Hull on March 1.

The fact that Meyler was undamaged by Pardew's headbutt, which lacked power and intent to badly injure, may also have counted in his favour.

Pardew will continue to take his pre-match press conferences but won't take post-match questions.

There is relief at the club that the FA ban did not extend into next season, and will be seen out during a period where Newcastle are not threatened by relegation, or are contesting the FA Cup.

Stadium bans for managers are rare with the longest - of five games - served by then Blackpool boss Paul Ince earlier this season for threatening to knock out a fourth official Mark Pottage during a match against Bournemouth.

Harsher punishment on us than him tbh.

A longer stadium ban as is just means Carver causing the damage on the touchline TFC style (harsh he wasn't that bad there). Might have actually been made to hire an interim manager if not. (yeah with Ashley maybe that wouldn't have happened anyway)

Interim manager would only have ended up being Kinnear anyway

If Pardew had been banned for 70 games it wouldn't have been long enough...just face facts, whilst Ashley is here, this clown is going to be showing his hypocritical cheesy grin round SJP for all that time.

GIZ A WAVE..!!!

FA supposedly unhappy with the length of ban given by the independent panel and want to extend it.

Give credit to the FA for a rare sensible outcome and it turns out not to be them making it.

Awesome. Look forward to the retrial sheduled for 2018.
