AyeDubbleYoo
I liked him when he played for Reading TBF, used to go quite a bit. I was surprised how fast his career tailed off after that.
Thomson Mouse
Two wrong moves, stoke and Portsmouth. Wife didn't settle apparently. He comes across quite well in the books
loki679
Kitson's a bit of a t*** himself TBF. Surprised you think that tbh. He doesn't like Pardew and you're surprised he's not in Ian's good books? All footballers writing a column for a newspaper without telling people who they are do that tbf.

KaKa
His tactics were so basic this little girl could understand them. Why is this man our manager?
Sean
It's obvious that, as the Secret Footballer column makes out, Pardew isn't here based on his managerial ability but because he owes money to Ashley. I want Pardew sacked 100%, but even then we're never going to be run properly as a football club, with ambition, until Ashley's gone.

JCONA
I know. Like unless he owed ca$hley 1 million 1 billion dollars why would he ever care
Ste
It's like being a loan shark and giving the guy who owes you thousands through gambling debts control of your multi million pound business. Pardew is here because Ashley or the people he trusts rate him. The bullshit gambling story really ought to have gone away by now.
Ste
I'm loathe to believe anyone who is too pussy to back what they say without the "secret footballer" mask.
BottledDog
He might want to recoup several thousand pounds worth of debt? I'd imagine. Get a cheap manager at the same time, and one who'll always do as he says and front up for the bulllshit. It's not exactly the most ridiculous suggestion. Been a rumour since he took the job, and it's not like Ashely has a history of employing his mates is it? Employing someone he has got to know? Not ridiculous. Employing a manager because he might want to recoup several thousand pounds worth of debt and Pardews managerial ability has no bearing on the decision? Sorry, yes that is indeed an utterly ludicrous suggestion.
Ste
This secret footballer nonsense has probably been created by the media so they can talk crap whenever they want and not be at risk of lawsuits.

Take your head for a walk man, your condescending shit is extremely annoying. I hadn't realised Ashely made all his decisions based on the ability of the employee. Good to know No, it was clearly based on some drinking game. Fuck me man. Give your own head a shake.

Sorry, yes that is indeed an utterly ludicrous suggestion. f*** off man. So what was the Kinnear appointment? Pray tell? Based on his managerial ability was it? His nous? Take your head for a walk man, your condescending s*** is extremely annoying. I hadn't realised Ashely made all his decisions based on the ability of the employee. Good to know No, it was clearly based on some drinking game. f*** me man. Give your own head a shake. Right so the Kinnear one was done in a pub, but when it's pardew it's all about the managerial ability. Escpeially with the record he had before us total and utter shit. Laughable Er, no, that was sarcasm regarding Kinnear. Of course there is more to his appointment than them having the odd drink together. Ashley clearly prioritises people he knows (to some extent over their actual qualifications for the role), and I said as much in my first reply to you. I just asked Sean to explain was why it was obvious Pardew was hired due to a gambling debt. Nothing more. Not sure why that got your knickers in a twist, but it would still be nice to hear some logic behind it.
Cajun
Pardew would have done the same debt or no debt. It's not like he was a top manager getting offers from a host of top clubs.

Cajun
Wasn't the rumour initially that he owed Llambias money (who is a casino owner), why is he still here? Were Mike and Pards having bets between themselves despite being in an establishment that to be fair to it does a bit of that betting stuff?

Interpolic
"Mike, I got carried away. I apologise profusely. I will call in every favour I have and get you your money ASAP. Here is the twenty quid I have in my pocket and the rest will follow as soon as I can possibly get it". "Put your facking money away, Alan - I don't want it. You have a special football managerial talent - I don't care what West Ham, Charlton and Southampton say - and that's what I truly want. Say you'll be mine, Alan. Say you'll be mine". "OK, Mike". Mattoon
I don't think it's the main reason he keeps him, but it's not beyond comprehension that it's also a factor, easier to get manager to spin your bullshit for you if you have something over them no? He's doing a sterling job as a bang average manager that's never goin to tear up any trees and dampen expectations to keep supporters in line, that's a main reason to keep him but I believe the debts have some credence too.
