Looking forward to Froggy telling us how it was the correct decision later on 🤔

Nevermind the result, it was another woeful performance for 70 minutes. If only Ipswich were a little better they'd be bang in trouble

It was the correct decision. Ashley Young deserves it as well. I've been seeing that dive from him for 15 years.

Never a pen, and if it was then Maguire should have had two at the other end.

Good game. Fair result.

Are you taking the piss?

Was one of the worst VAR decisions of all time

Lashings of irony from Froggy here like.

Ashley Young has had a long career of diving, 8 years of that for Manchester Utd, true but that was a penalty all day.

Funnily enough Maguire, himself, is fond of a bit of "simulation" and there were at least 2 examples of it in this game alone.

Can't believe they're losing with Højlund and Ugarte in the lineup. Wild.

Never bought into the Højlund hype, always felt he was a damp squib – like most Danes :shifty:

I still think if that pen was at the other end Man Utd get it

It's weird how I on one level feel desperate to agree with you, yet on another feel like it's been a long time since the days Man Utd were a club that were given a disproportionate amount of special treatment compared to other clubs.

Feels like we all just still suffer the after effects of our collective Fergie-Time induced PTSD

I'd give Young a 6.1 on that dive.

I don't really think that was a penalty, but also once it's been given it has to stand. It's an absolute shambles that VAR goes in and changes it; there are two clear shirt pulls on Young. It's not 'clear and obvious' neither, as the ref needs loads of time to decide, and he's not even given the best angles to support his initial decision.

They did pull his shirt but unless you are the incredible hulk you don't lift him 3 feet off the ground like he was sent.

edit: I guess that is the crux of it. Was the pen given because his shirt was pulled or because he was thrust airbourne?

They inherently favour the so called top clubs. They are sycophants.

At their ground last year this wasn't even reviewed by VAR and was just swept under the carpet. A few days later they them said VAR was right not to intervene!

Young is a cheating git but the referee had a clear view of it in real time and it shouldn’t have been overturned no matter how bad the dive was.

No idea how low the high bar for overturning a decision now is. Remember when Longstaff nearly exchanged shirts at Wolves 2 or 3 years ago and it was deemed fair.IMG_9004.thumb.jpeg.9588f327c53ee00501d647bded7861bb.jpeg

That would indicate it was him flying though the air, not the shirt pull. Look I would have been more than happy with as penalty but that was a dive.

Like Joelinton's clear handball against Spurs for Gordon's equaliser? Spurs are one of the "cartel clubs" right? Wasn't there a handball from Livramento in the same game as well? They were very easy decisions to give to Spurs if they were favouring them, but they weren't. Obviously.

Everyone gets decisions for and against them. There's no bias.

It was never a pen, so I was buzzing that they didn't give it. I was shocked it was overturned though.

Young only has himself to blame as well.

I'm I think pretty fair on handball decisions and joelinton's wasn't handball.

Regardless of whether it was or not, my point is that it could easily be given if there was any favouritism.
