Guest antz1uk
Well tin hat on here, but i'm not convinced on what i've seen so far, tends to always go to his right, so easy to knock off the ball and likes a bit of rolling around the floor instead of just getting on with it, however it's early days yet so will keep an open mind

Disco
Like HBA, he's the only one that can seemingly do anything out of the ordinary and thus when he doesn't get a goal/assist people will jump to the conclusion he's been poor because he has too much responsibility on his shoulders. The Pardew way.

David28
Don't think he's that good. Doing his CR7 moves when no-one is next to him but failes to beat players regulary. We'll see...
Guest antz1uk
i did also say this at the time to my son, de jong comes on and as soon as he has the ball everyone just stands there watching and waiting for something to happen, fuck off pardew
Gallowgate Toon
It's only his second game in the league and he's already created some really good chances for others. He'll adapt and realise he has to release the ball quicker. Although, he should have done better with his chance. I just hope people don't directly compare him to Ben Arfa. He's not the same type of player and never will be.
AY
Needs to learn two things. A) Release the ball faster B) Should take on players more and use his pace. Hatem did this brilliantly, Cabella stops the play and does most of his tricks standing still. Just use your skill to go past people man, no need to show off. Yorkie
He will probably fail to convince us all season, but still be one of the major reasons for why we finish 11th and not 18th. He's clearly got talent and he'll create several goals for us. As has been said though, he'll be identified as our only flair player and opposition will double-up to good effect. I know it's been done to absolute death, but I can't let go of the thought of Ben Arfa being used well alongside the likes of this guy. Fuck's sake. Mick
I expect Cabella will become very frustrated once he works out that we haven't got a clue what to do with the ball when going forward.
Pilko
Crap today. Granted, he had little movement around him, but he needs to be better.
Shush
Crap today. Granted, he had little movement around him, but he needs to be better. He got kicked around a bit as well, don't think he's adjusted yet. But yeah we are desperate and need better from him.
relámpago blanco
It'll take him a few games to adjust lets give him until Christmas and if he hasn't shown glimpses by then well know he wont adjust. He probably wont adjust full ly until he has a season under his belt.
Dinho lad
As long as Pardew and his coaching staff are here most of our players will not perform to their potential ability and furthermore likely to stagnate. Not exactly a revelation, I know, but the evidence is all there to see.
aussiemag
Its one game, he looked decent against Man City. I thought posters on this forum weren't stupid enough to judge a player based on one poor performance.
TRon
Its one game, he looked decent against Man City. I thought posters on this forum weren't stupid enough to judge a player based on one poor performance. I'm not judging him. He's clearly a good player. I'm just saying he's going to have to cut out the rolling around on the floor like a fanny routine and not let himself be brushed off the ball too easily. He was poor yesterday, but if he works hard he'll get better. I'm not sure what he can do about that tbh, he seems game enough, he's just very lightweight. Ben Arfa is a lot stronger at holding players off, and he wasn't exactly easy to push around even before he filled out. Just a bit more of a streetfighter mentality maybe. Cabella's not a shirker, he just doesn't look like he relishes close contact.
Ryan_Taylor
What we should do about it is fucking play Ben Arfa on the other wing. Save Remy being recognised as our only creative threat 10 minutes into every game.
ponsaelius
Tries too many stepovers and tried to go past his man too much IMO, no point doing that when there's a chance it'll fail. Better off passing back into midfield like the bloke stinking out the opposite flank. He's clearly a talented footballer but it's no guarentee he'll be a success here. Unlike Ben Arfa who has the explosiveness to still be effective in our static football he's going to come in for a lot of criticism.
r0cafella
I see what you mean Sewelly but we've got more than enough players who are happy to pass it square and take zero risks, it's a huge part of why we are so boring and lacking in quality. Also given the chronic lack of off the ball movement players like Cabella don't stand much of a chance. I know it's easy to say it's all Pardews fault but its really striking how one paced and lacking in invention we've become during his tenure.

I have a lot of patience for flair players trying everything they can to beat a player and take chances, just like HBA. When it comes off, it's fantastic to see and inspires the others to take more chances. I'm a huge fan of Cabella from what I've seen so far and think he'll be a success here in the long term. As we all know, we just need another striker in to help ease his task.
