Beren
It was a reasonable expectation to think/hope Man Utd would get dicked 7 or 8-zip at the time of the draw, I think. Fair play to Man Utd for managing a respectable defeat - but it's not much to shout about really. It's been achieved through 'handball' tactics (as Robben would bitterly say ), not actually competing with Bayern. Given where they were at the time of the draw, I guess it's a modicum of progress, but it'd be foolhardy IMO to suggest Man Utd have made any great strides towards being able to compete with anything approaching the best in Europe in any real sense of the word. Of course they've competed man. They don't play the same possession football but they've been extremely difficult to break down and shown the odd bit of canny play on the counter. Agree with this. I'm all for the slag off manu while we can but they've done alright against the best. Nobody should be expecting them to be competing with the best in the world the season after Fergie leaves. Don't disagree that they've been difficult to break down and been okay on the counter (in parts, anyway) and credit to them for that - but that's not a sustainable strategy to compete with the best IMO - unless you have the insane luck of Chelsea 2012. tmonkey
Messi has been horrible. Really horrible. Never seen him have such a bad game. Same goes for Busquets, Dani, Iniesta and Xavi. Rest are average players anyways. Standard Messi performance in the knockouts of the CL vs a solid defense at the top of their game.

Flip
Messi was really bad tonight. Said it earlier. Could've been Shola up top and he'd probably have done more with his height in the end.

Village Idiot
That said, if we can shake the gloom off and win this weekend, I think we'll win the league now. Atlético and Madrid will have two more high-octane games right in the home stretch of the competition.

True but has anyone apart form perhaps Dortmund once or twice been able to go toe to toe with Bayern over the past couple of seasons?
