merlin
He is an average player for a less-than-average manager, playing for an average club. Hamman said of us, when he left us to join Liverpool, that 'The board was average, so the club is average'. He was right then and goodness knows what he would think now....but then, we would never have bought him now...
captainhaircut
Good thing he was brought in as Gosling's replacement and not Cabaye's eh? Sick of seeing this nonsense. In yesterday's side and for most of the season, he's been used in the role Anita played last year. The Cabaye replacement is clearly de jong and Cabella played in Cabaye's number ten position yesterday.

Tooj
It was so predictable that as soon as Tiote was fit he'd be in there instead of Anita.

When de jong was fit, he played there and Sissoko has played there when De Jong wasn't fit- which is the same situation as last year. Assuming a midfield three of tiote, colback and de jong, it's fairly clear to see that colback has replaced Anita and de jong has replaced Cabaye. I know we're rubbish, I just don't see what difference it makes who is supposed to replace who. Course you don't. Well it's an entirely pointless question. What matters is whether the team is better or worse than before, and which players are good signings and which aren't. Compared to Gosling Colback is good, compared to Cabaye he's shit. Which one you pick seems purely arbitrary.
Jimburst
Tactically, it's quite important. Cabaye was our main creative force, we don't have him any more. We used money from his sale to buy a set of players who should be considered his 'replacements'. To improve our team, this/these player(s) have to be better than Cabaye, to stay the same they have to be of equal quality, and to regress, they can be whoever the fuck you can get. I reckon we've gone for the latter option, hoping that their collective efforts might match his.
The College Dropout
Cabaye played AM for the best run of form he had for us. Mostly played alongside Tiote though aye. Pardew has kept with last season's shape in that 4-4-1-1 largely.
