ponsaelius
He's not great but there's some unrealistic expectations of him. 'Unrealistic' to expect our starting midfielder to not be shite at football.

Hanshithispantz
You're claiming that we have unrealistic expectations for our starting central midfielders, man.
midds
I'd be absolutely fine with him sitting in front of the CBs and not contributing anything in the final third. If that's his role then the onus is on someone else to create and score, it's the fact that's his role and he does it poorly imo. He provides no protection to the defence and can't help out at the sharp end either. It's the worst of both worlds with him.
Interpolic
If you have as many technical limitations as he does then the one thing that might help you get away with it as a central midfielder in the top flight is athleticism. He has none. He is so off the pace at times it's unreal. My expectations of him when he plays are next to none, hence why I don't want him in the side. He's a tidy enough midfielder to bring off the bench to close the game off at best. Maybe he could fill in at fullback now and then. I don't think we need 2 of him, Anita and Tiote so I'd just play Anita and ask a bit more of the other midfielders.

Like I just said in the McClaren thread, his distribution is far too limited for him to sit in front of the back four. There has to be some onus on him building the play if he's going to be the deepest of the midfielders. He's basically Scott Parker without the slide tackles. Hanshithispantz
Since people love salivating over Colback's stats, look at them compare to the bloke we let join Crystal Palace. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/69867 http://i.imgur.com/HnnNO6c.png http://www.whoscored.com/Players/12376 http://i.imgur.com/5tZMk0Q.png PHWOARRRR
Hanshithispantz
It doesn't mean much like but I find those images side by side absolutely hilarious Colback's biggest strength is actually his biggest weakness.

Yorkie
Weaknesses: Crossing Takes all the set pieces. We really don't have anyone who can properly whip a dead ball. There's no one I'd fancy over a free-kick. I wonder if Mitro can hit one.

Unbelievable
Great block led to our 3rd goal. Otherwise don't remember him doing much except the usual backwards and sideways stuff He made that block after inexplicably handing Norwich possession first like. He's absolutely replaced him, apart from the whole 'being good at football' part I mean.

Foluwashola
We talk as if there's a single person who wouldn't drag Colback's pale carcass over dirty needles to replace him with a player of Cabaye's quality.
Darth Crooks
He was his replacement though. He gets ran around a lot a throws himself into bookings. He doesn't break up lay or distribute particlularly well yet he seems to get away with it on the back some (welcome) important goals and assists last year. Well aye, because we have people saying "he's not great but there's some unrealistic expectations of him," like a central midfielder who gets stuck in, spreads the ball about and threatens the opponents goal himself isn't something fucking QPR have. Regurgitating "he's not Cabaye's replacement" too, which was naive when we signed the lad, at this point it's just an outright lie.
Tsunami
We haven't replaced Cabaye, labelling Colback as his replacement is complete bollocks. If that's how he's being judged he should pack it all in now. I've said before that he shouldn't be judged by the general ineptitude of our transfer policy. Colback is doing to Tiote role and Tiote just happened to have Cabaye to give it to. Neither Wijnaldum or Sissoko make themselves as readily available as Cabaye did. If you had your pick of players to put there who would you choose? Teams need balance, even when we were good/ better than now we had the likes of Batty and Butt playing that role. We don't keep the ball well enough not to have someone playing a really boring holding position. I'll say again he's bang average but he's doing what he's been told to do.
