geordiedean
Heād give Rafa cold sweats at night. Iām not sure thereās a modern game manager out there who could harness his talent.Ā King Kev and SBR would have done just fine though..Ā Best XI (1990-2018) ?Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Given Barton Woodgate Albert Enrique Ben Arfa Cabaye Speed Ginola Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ColeĀ Ā Ā ShearerĀ Subs: Pav, Lascelles, Lee, Beresford, Robert, Ferdinand, BeardsleyĀ Ā As if anyone would have Ben Arfa over Robert and Peter Beardsley on the bench???Ā Really???Ā Cabaye isn't fit to lace his boots nor Roberrt Lees
CaliMag
Why was Hamann sold?Ā Batshit mental to get rid of him at the time. He wanted the transfer and said his family couldnāt settle in the North or some shit and then went to Liverpool and won a bunch of trophies. Bastard. I also remember Inhoped he would break his leg and he was actually injured at the start of his career there IIRC
Dinho lad
I recall him saying that he would rather play for Liverpool in the UEFA cup than for us in the CL league. Ā I think he saw in the long term that the two clubs were heading in different directions - and he was right. Ā Ā

James
Solano was way more talented than Ben Arfa a wand of a right foot and one of the best passers and crossers we ever had. Such an intelligent player too.

NUFC
Not sure why this thread keeps getting bumped as HBA is irrelevant now. Ā He was a player with potential but unfortunately his application was awful and thats probably why nobody has signed him yet. Ā Tbh id struggle to put him in the best 18, never mind best 11Ā since Newcastle have been in the Premier League
geordiedean
It amazes me the people on here that put him ahead of Beardsley,Solano ,Lee or Robert. They either didn't see them players play or just have some bizarre love in for Ben Area. Wherever he's been he's been lazy and his attitude stinks yes he's got talent but my god he's not on the same level as the players mentioned

I would turn up to games for him alone. He is absolutely on their level in terms of entertainment and the potential for magic to happen.

You're a true HBA fanboy, KI! (Yes, I know Nobby played there before in his career!) Well yeah, because we've never had a right back in my lifetime that I'd prefer over either Solano or HBA. Wherever he's been he's been lazy and his attitude stinks yes he's got talent but my god he's not on the same level as the players mentioned Ā I'd put him above Robert. You only need to look at Robert post SBR to see how ineffective and disliked by the gammons he was. The other side of the coin is HBA was still very good under, for me, the worst NUFC manager in my time supporting Newcastle, and imagining how good HBA would have been in SBR's side. Beardsley, Lee, and Solano are NUFC legends, I'd rather watch HBA over all of them bar Beardsley, but you'd be nuts to put him ahead of any of them in terms of contribution. Guest Howaythetoon
Iād put HBA when he is in the moment or that zone or whatever it is when magic happens, as the most talented player Iāve seen at our club and certainly the most exciting. The only player close to him was Tino. Weāve had better players and players with amazing talent who were exciting, like Beardsley, but HBA man, he played like we all did as kids, or tried to, and thatās probably why he hasnāt fulfilled his potential. Heās too much of a maverick and too much of an individual. My kind of player though, him in KKās team, he would have been our Cantona.
