He was the perfect manager for him - he didn’t ask him to do any work, and picked him every week when he was fit enough.  Didn’t even blink when he looked completely uninterested against Sunderland.

“It was a very, very difficult period. The worst of my career. It was as if my hell began at Newcastle.

“There, on the first day back in August 2014, I was placed directly with the reserves. A terrible humiliation. Weeks passed and I was always with these young 16 and 17-year-olds on land away from the pros.

“I did not understand. They gave me a nightmare. It was full of little cheap shots. And when I believed in me [getting out] by signing for Nice, they were forbidden to hire me [until July].

“I had the feeling of being locked in a dark room without a door, or in an endless tunnel. I saw hell and especially no solution to my problems. At that time, I was wrong, I did not see any light. I was a prisoner.

“I was slapping myself every day to not let go. I tried to convince myself that the light was coming back, I was going to find the right path. By signing this summer with Nice, I really felt out of hell. In fact, that’s it, I come back from hell.”

You’re either on crack or have zero memory.

Loved him when he was tuned in on the pitch, got the pleasure of seeing his great goals from the stands, and also sadly they horrific injury at Man City. Provided some great moments when those were a rarity, but he wouldn’t last until lunchtime with Howe.

Howes mentality can be summed up in one word - intensity - something HBA totally lacked, and that’s why HBAs best moments are stuff like goals in the early rounds of the cup, rather than finals.

HBA had the career he deserved.

The 2019 Coupe de France final was a football match between Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain to decide the winner of the 2018–19 Coupe de France, the 102nd season of the Coupe de France. Rennes won the cup, their first since 1971, after a penalty shoot-out following a 2–2 draw in extra time.

I was lucky enough to get a ticket in the corner against Blackburn when Ben Arfa scored that incredible solo goal.

I don't think I will ever see a better goal live, the skill to dribble through all of those players then smash the ball into the roof of the net was sublime.

I know he had his issues, but I absolutely loved Ben Arfa, he made watching football a joy.
