Jimburst
Newcastle United FC @NUFC 8m8 minutes ago "and I'll always remember them, even when I'm banging in goals for fun at the Bernabeu. PEACE" Wish I'd have been arsed to get odds on that when I made that prediction  I'm fairly sure the odds will still be be fairly long.
The College Dropout
Better at AM at the moment. Lacks the physicality as a lone striker to have any impact - at least at home. A few times we could've played an earlier ball to him but that failed to materialise.

A few times we could've played an earlier ball to him but that failed to materialise. Only because of the way our coaching staff insist on setting us up. Reliant on long balls and knock downs, which obviously isn't ever going to be Ayoze's forte. He's so talented though. Control and dribbling are amazing. Try playing Suarez so far ahead of the closest central players behind Perez (Colback and Anita) and only thump long balls to him as a lone striker and see how well he does. Guest
Think he could do with a rest tbh. If only we had a striker eh?

Southampton sat very deep and we did try to play it on the deck but they're obviously a very strong team defensively. It's very difficult to play through a deep, well organised defence. We where just crying out for Ayoze to get more touches on the ball but when he was up front he just couldn't get the ball enough. Gouffran and Colback had decent games but we needed another person in midfield that was able to turn players and eliminate a S'hampton player and play a forward pass quickly- Ayoze has that ability. IMO a Newcastle United side needs to be somewhat direct. Today - we tried to play the ball through midfield but the crowd can easily become restless if it doesn't work very well. Guest Recoba
Probably his worst game for us, wouldnt hold it against him though about time someone else stepped up.
The College Dropout
I don't believe we played loads of long-balls today. Southampton where way more direct than us. They have a great player for it - but it pretty much won them the game.

Didn't say we did. Just that our attacking plan is largely reliant on it; which is a failure of the coaching staff.

We tried to pass it through the midfield and Southampton weren't having any of it.

Pixelphish
A properly functioning team with this lad in it could really bring some excitement back to this club.

Lush Vlad
Where do we think his best position is? Definitely not a lone striker. We're calling his type a "Second Striker" nowadays aren't we? Yeah, that. Someone else up top, with Ayoze free to roam a bit more behind them. Problem is, we have Cisse and Riviere as options. The former will get you goals now and then, but isn't very good up top on his own IMO. The latter seems to be half decent at holding it up and making the right runs. He's just less of a goal threat than Shola.
Cronky
He's a bit like Rooney, in that he can do a decent job in any attacking position, wide or central, forward or withdrawn. At the moment, I'd keep playing him as lead striker, because that's where he's most needed. Ultimately, where you play him really depends on who else we have around. I could see him doing well with a similar player, like the partnership that Yorke and Cole once had. That might well be better than playing him around a big centre forward. In assessing him, you just have to ignore his physique. He's far stronger than he looks.

Kanj
In a perfect world you have Ayoze, De Jong, and Cabella in an interchangble front 3 in advanced positions finding space and time to either feed eachother or Cisse. Moussa showed some really good positional discipline v Hull ( i know it was Hull ). And I think he's got that in his locker. When he breaks forward on the counter, we have Abeid holding back who has the pace and strength to cover if we get overexposed. ( i hope)

Disco
How did he play yesterday? Did he look fresh? What position Was beyond isolated in the first half; second half he was involved and linked well with Cabella and Sissoko. Couple of decent efforts, had Arsenal worried.
