I don't think it's a case of doing the running, moreso that Fernando has no desire to get forward, he's a pure holding midfielder. Fernandinho covers a lot of ground but he does like to pop up with a shot on the edge of the box and that.

I think the plan is that nasri and silva will drift narrow so should never lack for a passing option anyway, so the midfield 2 is less of a risk. The full backs are good enough to provide attacking width too. If Toure is drifting in and out Liverpool may manage to wrestle possession.

 

City's 4-4-2 seems well designed to play against most teams who will sit deep against them, with a lot of dangerous players to take on a deep lying team. Against Liverpool it looks a bit more of a gamble, but tbh still think they should win this.

NBC Sports has a tactical camera option for this. Anyone know if they have it for every game? I'm watching our game with it next weekend if so. Will be eye opening.

 

Wish they'd fucking just sync the commentary with the video.
