TRon
Much rather De Jong through the centre than Perez atm. Ayoze has looked far to light weight lately. Needs a wide berth on recent form as far as I'm concerned. I don't think there's anything wrong with Perez personally, he lost his place so that De Jong could shore up our diddy men midfield. I thought he did a good job as sub as well tbh, he shored up the left side manfully from a defensive point of view.
DJ_NUFC
I thought he was slow and was pushed off the ball as much as, if not more, than Perez usually does. Ineffective going forward and not entirely sure where the effusive praise is coming from. We've seen more from Perez in that role all season.
Gallowgate Toon
I thought he was slow and was pushed off the ball as much as, if not more, than Perez usually does. Ineffective going forward and not entirely sure where the effusive praise is coming from. We've seen more from Perez in that role all season. Most have praised his work off the ball, rather than what he did on it. Today was his first start in how long? He was better than Perez has been in his last couple of matches and may well get better with more time. Personally, I saw a pretty big benefit in having an experienced, intelligent head in a key area. He stayed in similar areas the whole game and that suited our structure more, IMO. Gallowgate Toon
He got stuck in too, which is massive for a side like ours. Nicked the ball, stuck his head in etc. As much as I like Perez, he can be a bit of a bottler.
Holloway
Get the feeling that he is quality and will improve our creativity big time if he gets decent run. No more mishaps please, like a king size rizla getting whipped up on the autumn breeze and coming down and slicing his lug clean off the side of his head. Paulie Walnuts
Let's not forget that before his injuries he looked very promising with a lot of goals preseason. Pardew wanted to build his team around him, but we can't hold that against him.
AyeDubbleYoo
Massively pleased he started and did well. Absolutely key he plays a lot IMO, although I feel sorry if Ayoze has to miss out.
Guest
I'd love to see a 4-3-1-2 with him just behind Mitroze.
toon25
I still think there's space for De Jong and Perez in the side with Sissoko moving to the centre.
Lush Vlad
I still think there's space for De Jong and Perez in the side with Sissoko moving to the centre. Agreed. Sadly, I think barring any injuries. We'll be playing the same XI, until we get hammered a couple of times. Then we'll panic and McClaren will tinker, again. joeyt
Did he come off injured? Thought I saw him holding his hamstring at one point when he came off but he might have just been knackered after too much fresh air for one day

BrettNUFC
Different class De Jong. Criminal it's taking this long for us to give him a good opportunity. Fair enough injuries have massivley stalled his progress but he's been 'fit' for a good while now and still been restricted to pointless cameos. Barring any furthur injuries, we should be looking to build our play around him.

Just a natural footballer. Looks to have a good understanding with Wijnaldum. Really needs to start every game as long as he stays fit.

The College Dropout
He was constantly involved. Perez usually comes in and out of games. De Jong was consistent. Asked for fouls a bit too easily but he hasn't had a chance to learn the game here properly yet. Seems a leader which is vital. As someone said is handy in the air and a tremendous work ethic. With Cisse looking to get in behind his lack of pace wasn't such a big factor but you would reckon he and Mitro up top would be way too slow. Much like Cisse, compared to the young lads he seems to have a better attacking intuition and movement in the box. He was one of the more long-term strategic benefits from the game other than the extra effort.
AyeDubbleYoo
It is such a big benefit having a thinker and a talker out there. I haven't watched the full game yet but looking forward to seeing him.
sugoinufc
played yesterday. He needs to start and another big plus is his leader-skills. Just sad Perez play same position...but there should be plenty of game time for both in that position...also perez can cover more positions. Looks promising. Dave
Different class is a massive overstatement. Unless there's a totally different class for 'decent'.

Kanj
Thought he did well, still looks far from his best and what he's capable of but liked seeing him shout, organize and drift into great positions. He's rushing his shots, and his touch in the box was a little hesitant. But like I've said before when he had his debut last season - he's constantly looking to play it first time, 1-2 and quickly which is great. We need to figure out how to make sure Wijnaldum, Perez, and De Jong play together on the pitch to be most deadly in attack.
jackyboy
Really good game yesterday, great vision and first touch lay offs. Tired a bit late on just needs to start a few more games
AyeDubbleYoo
Definitely saw him sprint at one point, closing down the keeper. Encouraging!
