Nepharite
LVG abandoned the Dutch 4-3-3 in favor of it at the World Cup. Looks like it worked for Man U last night. I can't stand the 4-2-3-1, so should we try it with the players at our disposal?
Deuce
No.
Guest firetotheworks
No.
Tiotes Witch Doctor
Absolutely not.
Guest firetotheworks
So it's agreed. We go ahead with the 3-5-2.
Decky
3 at the back under Pardew.
Nepharite
Everyone happy with the 4-2-3-1 then?
Away Toon
Our back three would be worse than shite, apart from that it's a good idea.
mrmojorisin75
in principle we have players who should be able to play it, especially 2 CB's who can play the sweeper role, but to answer the question absolutely fucking not (would not surprise me if pardle tried it like, he'll have seen LVG succeed with it and think he's as smart as him)
BillClinton
We hardly have the players for the '3' or the '2'
Guest palnese
Hahaha
Ketsbaia
Playing 3 in defence with wing backs has always fascinated me. I love the idea of it but it all hinges on the wing backs - any width depends solely on them. They have to be near-perfect. Will we play it? No. The King doesn't appreciate new ideas that aren't from the 1980s.
Ronaldo
Nah. It never works and we certainly don't have the players for it.
Guest firetotheworks
Everyone happy with the 4-2-3-1 then? It's more the manager, than any formation. With a different manager I would go with a 4-2-3-1 though, aye.
David28
It'll be more like our traditional 4-6-0 which can be converted to a 6-4-0 if we don't get a "grip on the game".
Kimbo
It does work, Juventus play this formation, and i'm expecting more clubs to use it over the next few years. It wouldn't work with us though obviously as we don't have the players and we certainly don't have the coaches for it.
Guest firetotheworks
I'm looking forward to someone saying that Santon would make a good right wing-back.
David28
I think Santon would make a good right wing-back.
Ketsbaia
Also, in Pardew's eyes, 4-4-2 has a left back and a left midfielder - lets call him a left back. Why have one left back when you can have two?
Guest firetotheworks
I think Santon would make a good right wing-back. You motherfucker.
Dr.Spaceman
I'm looking forward to someone saying that Santon would make a good right wing-back. I think Santon would make a good right wing-back. As long as Coloccini is played as a defensive midfielder.
mattypnufc
If we had a decent manager, I'd be all for this. Martinez had Everton playing this way last season did he not?
Guest firetotheworks
I honestly don't get this whole left back joke thing.
Sima
Every time we have played three at the back at the past it has been beyond horrific. I remember being battered by Spurs at home under Sir Bobby playing three at the back.
AY
Depends, 3 at the back is wasting if the opposition is playing with one striker. So we could use this against City, or Liverpool maybe.. edit. Don't have players for it tho
