I'd have fucking harmed Souness at the time, definitely. Since he left though, the hatred I feel when I look at his bullshit spouting mug has subsided slightly.

Allardyce I'd still happily beat to a quivering pulp with a shitty stick, the fat smug prick.

Neither of them make me feel like Pardew does though, not even fucking close.

Decent article:

Neil Cameron: Hate is a strong word but that's what many feel towards Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew

The first-ever football match I covered as some sort of journalist took place at Hampden Park.

Queen’s Park versus Arbroath in case you were wondering. A 2-1 win for the away team. So worried was I that I would make a mess of it, I took two watches, a couple of notepads and about 10,000 pens.

I was only 19 so it was pretty nerve-wracking. It was just me and some old guy who helped me to somehow bundle my way through it. The best thing about it was you got a free pie. I was hooked.

Since then, I reckon I have done about 60 games a year on average. That’s approaching 1500 matches, countless previews, follow-ups, press conferences and rubbish interviews. I have seen just about everything there is to see regarding football.

But I am experiencing a new thing right now.

In all my time in this business, I have never known so much bile, hatred and venom directed towards one man as what is right now heading the way of Alan Pardew. It’s not healthy, but I don’t know how to make it stop.

There are some who have never liked him. There are now many, many more. Booing him, the banners, the songs. Few if any managers last long in the face of such criticism.

Pardew is struggling as badly, if not worse, than Graeme Souness and Sam Allardyce did towards the end of their time at the club.

He has won once in 11 Premier League games. The defence looks short. The strikers weak. Does he think this is all okay?

While I am sure Pardew is not my own biggest fan, for the most part I have found him pretty decent and as it’s Mike Ashley calling the shots, what else could the guy really do?

He is a human being and we see a different side to him. There were times I honestly felt for the guy.

In pre-season, his name was chanted at a few games. A start of bridge-building perhaps. Well, those bridges have been utterly destroyed over the past few days when that centre-half and striker that were desperately needed weren’t signed, while Hatem Ben Arfa and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa were sold.

How things work at Newcastle is less than clear. Ashley is the boss, of course, but what does that make Padrew. An enabler? A silent employee who knows his place?

When the club finished fifth, they signed one player the following summer and flitted with relegation.

This time last year, only one loan player arrived.

In January, the club’s best player was sold in the middle of what had been a terrific season with no chance of a replacement being brought in.

And now after what had been a fine transfer window, two first-team players were shipped out and won’t be replaced until the winter, if at all.

You can only come to two conclusions. Either the manager has okayed all the decisions or these choices are taken way above his head and he gets no input.

Neither answer reflects well on him. This is where the hatred comes in from the support. They believe he is in cahoots with Ashley who has refused to properly strengthen the squad.

The Ben Arfa situation was not helped by a lack of clarity. Pardew allowed us to fill the blanks when he could have said what was going on.

Newcastle fans don’t actually ask for a lot even if they deserve a whole lot more than they are getting.

What they want is for their manager, sadly the only person to speak up at the club, not to parrot the party line, which I am sure he will do when he next meets the Press. He said that players would have to move out before any moved in, and he himself spoke about the need for a striker. Two are out. None came in. As they say in America, do the math.

I don’t know how Pardew can come out of this. He could win a few games, of course, which would buy him a bit of time.

But if he loses at Southampton, then that Hull City game at home could become horrible. I’ll be on holiday so will miss it. For that I am truly thankful.

it's so refreshing seeing the fraud coming under so much scrutiny so early in the season. I honestly can't see him lasting the season if Ashley has the slightest interest in the club. We really need to apply as much pressure as possible and even ratchet it up if possible as we may not get a better opportunity than this.

was just going to post that article, what's refreshing is most of the comments are actually well against him now, the worm is turning

It's a decent article, but it ignores the most important part, the fact that the team is so much less than the sum of its parts. That happening consistently is what turned me against Pardew.

What I care about is that he has picked cloggers ahead of talent, played guys out of position, approached winnable games with unnecessary caution etc. Then there's the Ben Arfa thing and his waste of Mapou obviously, but they're extreme examples rather than the the key points IMO.

No player has improved, he's been given some good ones and they've regressed. He doesn't get the most out of his resources, that's why it's time to look for someone else.

Whether he's in cahoots with Ashley or just keeps quiet to keep a great job I honestly don't care. My opinion is that any manager would have to compromise with Ashley, maybe that's why I don't 'hate' Pardew as much as some.

Yeah the fan comments are definitely becoming more hostile than they were a year ago. Perhaps the NO campaign has had more impact below the surface than was initially apparent. We will prevail!

Man, to see Ian on our side is awesome. Let it all out, man. We feel your pain.

Obviously I've still got all the worries about what will come next, and Ashley is the real issue concerning our progress, but it is time for a new manager.

It really is starting to feel like the end might be close. 4 of the next 5 are away, can't see us winning any of them. Puts a ridiculous amount of pressure on the Hull game....

It would be mint if the Newcastle fans started a "Stevie Bruce, Super Geordie, la la la la!" chant at the Hull game. Or something along those lines.

Anyone else no celebrating pardle being sacked until after we appoint someone?

Can't celebrate him being sacked for us to appoint curbs

I'll celebrate like there's no tomorrow, I'll worry about the next appointment when it happens.

Pardew is the worst manager we've had in modern times for me. He has no talent or ability whatsoever. Furthermore he is an arrogant, egotistical embarrassment of a person. I cringe seeing him in the dugout, or doing press conferences. He makes me not ashamed to support NUFC, but very uneasy.

Souness was a poor manager and the time under him was very bad, but not this bad. Souness went into games to win and didn't dumb down the fans or attempt to lower expectations. Plus he treated the cups with respect and sent us out to win games. He was just a poor manager hence the poor results.

With Pardew, I could put up with him just being a poor manager, but not everything else about him which all combined make him easily the worst manager we've had since I've been supporting the club.

I regard him as the worst in the division and if I were a chairman, even of a conference side, I wouldn't hire him because he's appalling.

He is the ultimate fraud. He isn't a football manager or a coach, he's a trickster, a con man and has no place in football whatsoever.

Sadly for us, in Mike Ashley we have the owner equivalent of Pardew...

I really don't see why Ashley would sack him, unfortunately.

Premier League.

If Ashley feels we'll get relegated, I think he'll sack him. That's all he's bothered about afterall!

The way Ashley looks at it is he's already given him cash to spend over the summer window. He won't wanna bail him out with more cash/signings in January.

Instead, he'll want a new manager in to ensure we stay up. Can see it being Pulis or something, but at this moment in time, I'd take anyone with a positive attitude towards the game of football.
