Mick
Alan P45due Would be typical if we snuck a win with a goal deflected in off Cisse's arse in the last minute now. If the result is typical, we'll lose.

LV
If Ashley's just waiting for him to lose one more game he may as well sack him now. I don't get why he's waiting. What's the point? It's inevitable he'll lose a game soon, even if we don't lose at Stoke.

Unbelievable
Think Ashley is getting too much credit to be able to pull of some elaborate ruse like this. He's a prick, and he got drunk and told people his private business as he's a total idiot Surely you don't actually believe this SanToon? Ashley hasn't spoken to the press for 5 years or more, yet he just happened to be drunk outside of a Soho pub and willing to speak his mind to somebody who announced being a journalist, just days after engaging a PR consultant specialised in crisis management and story telling? I doubt it was staged as I can't see any benefit coming from it, not for Ashley, the club or Pardew.
Unbelievable
Lol. So you reckon ashley orchestrated the entire thing? Pre planned meeting a journalist, pre planned speech. Had to get his lawyers in on it and pardew. Made a cut throat gesture, talked about money. All as an elaborate PR trick that gets his manager under pressure? Why on earth would he do that? You're paranoid I think you're being gullible tbh. It's not such a stretch at all to imagine that his PR consultant advised him to talk publically to a journalist and staging it in a location where he was always likely to run into journalists. Mick
Not every single thing is some ruse like. Before Joe Kinnear signed, Ashley gobbed off in a London bar that he would get the job. He's a loud mouth. He got drunk and let his mouth go. If it was a PR thing, why get his lawyers involved at all? Wouldn't you prepare a better speech than that? These conspiracy theories are crazy man It could have a negative ending though, Ashley could have meant it and could hold off because of the story, we'll see. It's not as if he can't afford to pay Pardew off.

Unbelievable
Anyway, it's worked a treat. Even Pardew's staunchstest enemies are confused and falsely hopeful. It's happened all before too. You should all read up on the "club is for sale" saga.
Mick
I agree. But he didn't stage it. He gains literally nothing off it I agree he has nothing to gain, he's heaped more pressure onto Pardew and himself.
Unbelievable
Course he does. He gets to belittle someone, his favourite pastime. This. Plus he creates confusion in the ranks of those who want Pardew out. Mark my words, Pardew will still be here in 2015 even if we lose at Stoke on Monday and continue to be in the bottom 3. Jack Flash
I think he did want this info to be made public, either to put pressure on Pardew or to take the piss out of the fans. He'd have retracted it or denied it if he didn't.
Mick
Honestly this is madness. His lawyers and pardew would have to be in on it. Not likely. He's a back stabbing prick. So he's backstabbing his "mate" I see it as one of two things. He's either meant it and let his mouth go when under the influence or he's been taking the piss out of the journalist while pissed. Jack Flash
How's it taking the piss out of us? Not once does he mention us. "I've put a lot of money into this club" Laughing at the sackpardew lot more than the fans in general. He's clearly unnerved by them.

I think the latter, although he's pretty media shy he does seem to be a bit of a joker when he lets his guard down. Ordering people to run naked across the SJP turf, stripping on his birthday etc. He's been asked a question when out pissed and said something that would be inadvisable if it wasn't for the fact he can do whatever the fuck he wants. I see what you're saying but wouldn't you say "I'm backing pardew etc" if he wants to take the piss out of them He said that "on record" last week. If I was trying to get a rise out of them I'd say exactly what Ashley said.

From who's perspective could this be viewed as 'good' PR? Recent articles in the press quoting a load of ex-players claiming Pardew is a good guy and needs time, that's PR. Ashley making throat cutting gestures in the street to a journalist is bad PR. Ill-advised any way you look at it, and effectively makes all those articles spurious. Lawyers feeling the need to point out Ashley was joking. Why?
JH
He simply got pissed and let his mouth run, and there happened to be a journalist there. The paper contacted his office, they've tried to cover his drunken stupidity and said it was joke. He probably didn't even mean it. People say shit all the time when they're pissed. Conspiracy central here
