Think he got injured in the QF, I want to say against Colombia? Brazil were missing their two best players. Germany’s early goals were relatively simple and Brazil just collapsed. Nobody on the pitch took control of things, but they seemed to be overwhelmed from the beginning.

Yeah, we have a Brazilian friend who's a lovely lass, I was teasing her in the run up saying Germany were going to batter them. Thought Germany were going to win but obviously not expecting that. Think I avoided her until Christmas!

I’m really struggling to think of anything close in terms of a national football humiliation. The fact it was the Germans creating possibly the all-time footballing Schadenfreude is so apt. Getting twatted 7-1 in your home tournament in a semi final. There was something like 4 goals in 12 minutes or something and was 5:0 at half time was it and went to 7-0 before the consolation goal. Brutal. Think that broke Brazil for a very long time. They might still be broken Second response to this, but it just brought back a core memory. Remember watching it in the living room with my da (who has since passed). He'd backed Germany to win the tournament, but still couldn't believe what he was watching. He was gutted when they won the final too as he'd always said if England were out, Messi deserved a World Cup.
maybe_next_year Posted Sunday at 18:07 Share Posted Sunday at 18:07 I feel like nearly every game I have watched so far, they've timed the hydration break perfectly to break up any momentum at the games' most interesting point. They've been infuriating, I don't remember them being this annoying in Qatar.

It’s very clearly having an effect on the flow of the game and reducing that element of tiredness towards the end of each half, although I’m not sure how you’d quantitatively analyze that. Superior Acuña Posted yesterday at 03:17 Share Posted yesterday at 03:17 If Scotland finish third we play the winner of group A, E, or I. I had assumed it was random which, but apparently we’d have a 70% chance of E, 30% chance of A and virtually nil of I. Does anyone know what determines this? They blasted music and did a fancam, had cheerleaders, it totally disrupted the momentum of the fan atmosphere as well as the game.

It depends on which third-placed teams qualify. There's just the 495 potential combinations from 12 groups outlined here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup_knockout_stage#Combinations_of_matches_in_the_round_of_32
