It just looked like extra time in the latter stages of a cup.. where you just chuck your best players on and hope for the best.

Spain won a tournament without a striker but that was a well worked team that were all comfortable on the ball  and knew their role.

Our midfield play without a plan or a desire to pass to each other.

They certainly didn't help themselves or the manager secure their future

I know he scored.  But Bellingham regularly looks a bit unsure on what he is meant to be doing for England and almost gets in the way, somehow.  Foden the same.  Palmer wasn't great, either.

So many massively talented players who are a bit different to what we have had at times in the past.  It has seemed like for quite a while, we don't know how to get the best out of them.

Not much to like about our national team. Very much “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”, jobs for the boys mentality. And as for Carsley::carverlick:

Think it’s a bit early to be going in on Carsley like, he’s only just started and at least he’s trying things.

That said, the FA might feel they can’t give him the job now he’s lost at home to Greece.

Nah, he’s dink. But so was Southgate and he was there for 100 years.

i think he was trying to exppermient last night.

should be saying in interviews he's trying things in the nations league games in prep for the WC qualifiers.

Would be mad to bin him off purely on the basis of last night. Those games aren't real; England didn't win a single game during the last one yet still got to the Euros final.

After peaking with Euro 2020(1), I feel extremely ambivalent about England atm. Newcastle becoming a proper club again, the trudge of Southgate's final throes, Bellingham, Palmer... just meh.

It looked like England hadn't been coached at all, an awful performance.

Carsley needs to be building a far better CV and getting far more experience before he is anywhere near the England job full time, and a display like that was evidence of it, it really was complete garbage.

We need more fret king. Don’t think there are enough left backs

Never agreed with shoehorning in your supposed best players into a starting lineup and playing them out of position. Have the balls to prefer one over another. Our starting left back for England should be the best starting English left back, not someone from right back or another position just because they're 'better'. If that ends up being some bloke from the Championship, so be it.

Would it have been so hard to start with these -

-------- Watkins --------

Gordon - Foden - Palmer

--- Bellingham - Rice ---

So playing Bellingham out of his club position then?

Can just see that floated set penis to stones at the back post.

Is it ? I thought he played centrally for Dortmund, haven't really followed him at Real.

Replace Bellingham with Mainoo and that looks strong. One of Foden or Bellingham will have to be benched. It's shit for them but it's a great problem to have.
We just need a manager with a pair of balls who is prepared to make the tough decisions. Southgate certainly wasn't it and it looks like Carsley is just as wet. I like his attacking intent but he's coming across a bit Steve Bruce at the moment.
