The manager gets £4k and the player, after tax assuming 40% rate gets £2,400. That's a good deal?

Even worse, the player would pay tax on the £8000, so he'd be left with about £5000 after tax, then the manager gets £4000 of it tax free under the table..

Getting increasingly angry with all these people excusing Allardyce on the TV. And the reporters/anchors repeating this 'entrapment has won' line as if it has any validity at all.

Closed shop isn't it.

McClaren has said Sam has innocently paid the price.

Are these people insane?!

Aye but man this just shows the problem with the game, its so high profile you just aren't allowed to be dodgy as fuck and completely corrupt in private anymore.  Its all made public, and thats just wrong!  If something dodgy happens it should be sent only to the FA and never released to anyone else, that way the FA can sweep it under the carpet and keep the gravy train running at peak efficiency.

That's pretty much what Mclaren just said anyway

The Telegraph is incredible btw. This whole thing has the potential to cause huge ripples.

Aye, the press have always had a huge influence - not least with the England set-up - but bringing down the England manager in 24 hours? That's on another level. And for them to have an entire portfolio, with other significant figures and names exposed doing indefensible deals, it's a serious advance in banging the gong on corruption. Especially after all the FIFA business in the last 18 months.

Can't get over the reaction to all of this.

Allardyce is actually being made out to be a victim in all of this, by all of these ex-pros and managers. Incredible stuff.

Course he is. They're all part of that good ol' boys club of English football.
