I like some things about him, and was excited about his link up with Perez earlier in the season even when we were losing a lot. But young player or not, as a striker he needs to score goals chances like that today. Not good enough for what we need right now. Obviously not his fault he's relied upon like this at 21 of course and I'm by no means writing him off.

I've defended him and still think we don't create enough chances, but he's missing all of his chances and a few of them have been incredibly easy chances that he's somehow managed to miss.

His finishing has been very hit and miss. He's on his heels too much too, sometimes. Great ball in in the first half that he attacked but was late to because he didn't anticipate it well enough.

A young lad making the step up from Belgium to the PL should simply not be relied upon as much as Mitrovic has been. I don't like making excuses for the players, and he's had some bad misses, but this is what happens when you keep buying prospects instead of players who've been proven at the top level. Our club has underestimated the importance of top level experience for too long.

Unsurprisingly took a punt on on a raw, unproven striker from the continent and while he has some qualities he's not scoring anywhere close to the goals that we need to keep us in the league. As others have said we shouldn't be relying on him for a goal haulage.

Exactly, while he wasn't perfect £15m for Austin was the price of the difference between staying comfortably in the league and struggling, and we gambled. I like the idea of bringing through young talent but it's always a gamble. He shouldn't be relied upon and we should have signed someone else as well.

If we were putting more crosses like that into the box it'd help him with his development, in terms of not dwelling on one major miss. It's probably the biggest problem we've had for the last few years tbh.

Think the criticisms of Mitrovic are a bit OTT. He's our biggest aerial threat (even if he didn't score today), links up well with Ayoze and has good movement. He actually seems to care too, which stands out amongst our yellow bellies.

 

If you put him in a side with a half-decent central midfield and something resembling width, he'd be lethal. As it is, he's either being benched by Super Schteve or feeding on scraps from this shower of shit. He's not the problem.

Yeah, he's far from our biggest problem. Also struggling to think of another striker of his ilk who would be burying the scant chances he gets from our shitpile of a team. He's probably as shocked as fuck when the ball actually reaches him in a goalscoring position.
