St1pe
I really don't get people sometimes. Mitrovic is still young, he scored a reasonable amount of goals last season given his inexperience he is improving. More importanlty, for the first time in years we actually have real alternatives in play style so Rafa can rotate the strikers for the situation. I might be getting a bit ahead of myself here but if we get promoted I think both Mitrovic and Gayle will be at a stage under Rafa where they'll both be good enough for a Premier league level. Both need to improve but I haven't seen anything to suggest they won't.
jimmymag
He's painfully slow which will always hinder him in the Premiership. Oh, and he's a crap finisher.
The College Dropout
He's about one tenth the athlete Diego Costa is, unfortunately. Not his game to play like that. Aye, hopefully he can improve. But a big facet to Costa's game is being stronger and faster than most defenders ala Didier.
Pons Alias
He's a less effective Duncan Ferguson.
The College Dropout
Time will tell with the lad. I can't see him being ahead of Gayle ever for Rafa though. And I would be surprised if Gayle himself was our #1 next season.
Tiotes Witch Doctor
Are people STILL slating him? Came in scored goals had maybe one bad game and here we are again
Ronaldo
Granted I've just skimmed through the last couple of pages but I don't think anyone's really slating him.
DJ_NUFC
For the Mitro fanboys any sort of measured criticism, even ones mitigated his age and newness to the country, is "slating." It's the whole Ronaldo / Dummett syndrome all over again. Ron.

Elliottman
"Wouldnt get a game for Whitley Bay" - some bloke on totalsport He also said we'd only played well twice this season. Bloke was thick as mince.
STM
Hate to say it but I can't help but thinking his career here is dead in the water. He will probably see out the season but not the summer. It will be off to Italy or somewhere I reckon. Ultimately, I don't think he has the engine or the skill for the premiership and "age" just won't cut it for me. Shame because he is a great character. mighty__mag
Can't beleive we are wasting him in this division. Especially when he was thrown into a new side last season. He could have settled and used this league to build him up ready for the premiership. I still think he had much blame in his situation due to his 4 game ban and Gayle hit the ground running. Just seems a terrible waste. Rafa Rotates everyone else but hardly uses the strikers in a rotation. I dont think Rafa likes him much.
SEMTEX
I just think it's much harder to justify rotating out a striker who scores in most of his games. Especially when you only play one up top. I like Mitro, and would love to see him play in this league, but with 1 man up top, I don't think he'd see much time if I was gaffa' either. (But I'd just sack off Diame and play Mitro there instead. Or at least give it a try. )

Karjala
Blokes a cart-horse, nowhere near PL quality. If any team comes in with £15m for him, I'd snap their hands off. Rafa obviously sees it too.
Rompe
9 goals in 22 starts in his debut season in the Premier League to be fair to the lad. That's not too bad.

Rompe
How would you define PL quality then? Cause there are a lot of worse players than Mitrovic playing in the PL.
Tubestationatmidnight
He's a carthorse. I like the guy and his passion I really do but he's just not good or mobile enough. Also very lazy. Rafa obviously sees this too

And has champions league experience and has been here 18 months too. Just does not have the work rate, engine or mobility needed to play as a 1 up top. Shame as I do like the guy
triggs
9 goals in 22 starts in his debut season in the Premier League to be fair to the lad. That's not too bad. 3/4 of those goals were when he came off the bench so you're really stretching the truth there

Rafa obviously sees this too He's scored 5 goals and has 2 assists in 12 matches, 6 of which he started. He has a goal every 114th minute. If you take assists into the equation he has a goal or assist every 81 minute. But whatever man, he is lazy and not good enough.
Rompe
Apologies! It's 14 matches! The rest of the numbers should be fine though, was using both Soccerway and Whoscored but misread a parentheses.
Tubestationatmidnight
Every time I watch Diego Costa it reminds me what mitrovic is missing. Costa is a big guy but works his socks off and puts him self about loads. I'm not saying mitrovic should be as talented as him but there's nothing stopping him having the application and work rate that Costa does. Exactly how to play the lone striker role
