Ankles Bennett
Its an indefensable red card. Over the top of the ball with studs into shin. No point appealing cos it will just be increased to four games out if we do. Sign Austin now. Mitro will be suspended for half the season as he is too stupid to learn from his errors of judgment. How anyone can see the challenge in full speed and describe it as an "indefensible" red card is completely beyond me. I can't believe how many people have bought into this bad boy image created by the media. Costa practically maims a defender most weekends and everyone laps it up. Hhtoon
It's all down to interpretation and there is only 1 mans that actually matters. Enough people agree with him and equally enough people disagree to show it's not exactly a freak decision. I personally wasn't surprised when it was red but don't think it was malicious at all and probably not dangerous enough but can understand an on the spot decision...especially with dudey writhing on the floor. It happens every week so not sure why the big deal. Mitrovic will return and he'll be fine. He doesn't strike me as the wilting flower type so doubt will affect him too much. mrmojorisin75
Just watched the sending off again and noticed how not one Arsenal player is even calling for a yellow card to be shown. Then Carzola putting an arm around Mitrovic. You know a decisions harsh when the other team react like that (or don't react) to a challenge. Cazorla's reaction is the key one imo, said it yesterday. He's got a smile/laugh of total disbelief and then goes over to console Mitrovic. That's all you need to know about how 'dangerous' it was.

Not sure thats valid as they would have been watching the ball, not where Mitrovics foot ended up. Sure if they had seen his studs hit the shin they would all have been in the refs face regardless of whether there was intent or danger.

Taylor Swift
Let's not make this a big club v small club thing. Giroud was sent off for something very similar to this two years ago against Fulham. His was an even worse decision by the ref. This was the referee's mistake but it could have, and in fact has, happened to Arsenal before.

This was about the screaming little c*** Coquelin, and the rep of Mitrovic. All comes down to the weak and useless PL referees.

Shearergol
Just seen it. Possibly the worst red card I've seen in the premiership.

ilikenewcastle
I think you'll see plenty of red cards for fouls like that this year. I don't think Arsenal would have moaned if he only got yellow, but some of the comments on here are silly. It was nowhere near as controversial as their non-penalty... Budgie Smuggler
Just seen it. Possibly the worst red card I've seen in the premiership. Mark Noble would run him close.

This was the referee's mistake but it could have, and in fact has, happened to Arsenal before. I've just found that on the video site and tbh they are completely different situations. Giroud goes completely over the ball into the players ankle at speed and looks a potential leg breaker. The Telegraph article strangely enough isn't overly, if at all critical about the challenge either, excusing him for a marginal touch on the ball. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/10010579/Arsenal-to-appeal-against-Olivier-Girouds-red-card-for-tackle-on-Fulham-defender-Stanislav-Manolev.html
Hanshithispantz
There's a load of neutrals talking about the challenge, I'd hazard a guess and say there isn't 95% of them claiming it was a red. Congratulatons...you've found a link that allows you to back up your view. Please see every single match report as a means to up mine. Anyway man, seriously what's the point. It was a red card (deserved or not). I can't be bothered to talk about it anymore. I don't think it backs up my point of view does it? It's pretty mixed. Just an example from a neutral and popular website that everyone outside of this forum doesn't think it was a red card.

Gallowgate Toon
There's a picture in the paper of Gabriel's foot about an inch and a half away from Mitrovic's head while the ball's a good 5 feet in the air. Sure I remember that situation in the game and nowt was given. Could've been potentially SERIOUS.
