Obviously can't trust these stats: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/shay-given/elfmeterstatistik/spieler/3146 How could I forget that Gareth Barry pen. I was foaming when he saved that one as I was desperate for souness to get sacked.
joeyt
Massively at fault for their first goal. Can't say that, he's not mats sels. This doesn't make any sense Zzzzzz. I see what you're doing joey. It won't work. I don't know what I'm 'doing'? No one has said you can't criticise Darlow for his positioning of the goals (he was at fault) and I don't know what the criticism Sels has to do with it either. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Is my memory hazy or didn't Mathieu hit the post/send it wide EDIT: When Shola Ameobi made it 2-0 only 49 seconds after the interval Newcastle were on their way, but Sochaux continued to create and the night would have been considerably more fraught had Jeremy Mathieu converted a 63rd-minute penalty. That came after a foul by Olivier Bernard but Mathieu dragged his shot woefully wide.
mrmojorisin75
To be fair, his keeping was poor for both goals. Shame given his amazing first half, but there it is.

huss9
He was outside a club last night singing "we're Newcastle and we're going to win the league". any other players with him?
Ronaldo
He would've got back to Newcastle at 2am at the earliest. Fair play to him if true, I guess.
Gallowgate Toon
Not sure if he was singing but he definitely was in a casino and club in Nottingham last night.

sbnufc
#1 now? Some amazing saves today I know some who would have preferred Elliot to be back in when he's fit
Altamullan
Great agility shot stopping and reaction times; not just today. A little more presence and positional sense and think we're looking at a top class 'keeper.
Figures 1-0 Football
Getting better and better in all areas like.
Crumpy Gunt
Going to take some shifting from being first choice. Only positive tonight was his performance.
Yorkie
Great shot-stopper and claims the ball from crosses very well, too (though I think he had a rare fumble against Burton?) Big future, imo.
Ronaldo
Potential to be a very good keeper.
Hanshithispantz
Thought he'd had a couple of wobbles recently which worried me a bit but he's put in some absolutely terrific displays. No chance I'd be letting Elliott anywhere near a net ahead of him.
Pilko
Only player in a Toon shirt worthy of a mention tonight. Kept us in it for longer than we should have been.
madras
Not just tonight but the last few games he's really won me round. Now seeing him as more than a good championship keeper with potential to be a very good premiership keeper.
merlin
Saved us from a 0-3 home embarrassment in my opinion - two really great saves and he didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Very impressed with the lad, the one bright spot in the whole performance.
Decky
Felt sorry for this lad yesterday.
ujpest doza
Outstanding last night. Not seen a replay of the goal but thought there was a foul in there somewhere. Did he play for England Under 21's? Wouldn't surprise me to see him on Southgates radar.
buzza
The only thing that he lacks is Build, when he gets to 25 and his body changes he will be some keeper. Really do enjoy watching this lad, will be hard for blob and krul to displace him on this form...

buzza
I thought he was only 22 or 23, might be mistaken, if so, he needs to sort his life out and get a yearly greggs subscription or something, lightweight !!!
