They are a big European country, larger and more prosperous than Spain for starters; and their NT has been pretty successful throughout the years, producing some great players. Yet their football clubs - bar PSG nowadays - have always been pitiful. PSG's success until the recent takeover was poor. Aye they'd won the league twice (1985-86 & 1993-94) and been runners up 6 times from 1988 - 2004. Then boom, take over.. win the league 3 years on the trot.
