Jamaica 1-0 Canada in Gold Cup action

Wish Canada would stop playing garbage like de Guzman and Ricketts. They've a loooong way to go before becoming a competitive team, but they have a few decent younger guys who should be getting game time instead.

Jamaica's LB Kemar Lawrence is one to keep an eye on, was probably their best player during the Copa America and has been impressive for NYRB in MLS.

Giovinco is far too good for MLS.

Clearly, it's a coup getting a player like him in his prime and not at 35 years old. He could just as easily be playing in a top European league right now. Hopefully it's the beginning of a new trend of attracting prime talent. Getting Gio dos Santos and Chicharito would represent the same kind of forward-thinking transfer policy.

Is there anything in the fact they're all quite physically slight, is it not that physical a league?

Actually it's quite physical, but a player like Giovinco is heads and shoulders above the opposition from a technical point of view that it doesn't matter as much that he's not the biggest.

Yeah, it's pretty physical and that can catch out older players. Lothar Matthaus is one that always gets mentioned in that sense. But if you're at your peak physically and a technically gifted player you're gonna have a field day, as Giovinco is.

 even Henry struggled initially when he came over. But after so many games and even at 35-36 years old, he adapted and took the piss outta everybody.
