Freddie Woodman (now playing for Preston North End)

Recommended Posts

Suppose a loan deal is sensible. He needs to be playing.

Pickford is only 3 years older I think and Woodman really needs some proper game time in a decent league to start developing more.

Massive potential. Could be worth a few bob to the fat man in a few seasons.

Or end up playing in Scotland or league 1 forever.

Also worth watching whether Freddie Woodman is loaned out. The keeper is in vital need of first team action but facing the first half of the season with the U23s. Not good for his development

He's got to get loaned out for his own good. Another aspect of Ashley's NUFC. Young players don't get loaned out to help their development due to lack of squad depth.

Well we do have three keepers even if he goes like

Exactly, so he should be loaned out now. Just put a recall clause in the loan deal to cover for any goalkeeper injury crisis. He'll eventually force a move if he doesn't get loaned out and only plays for the U23s. He's supposed to be a good prospect. He needs proper games.

Newcastle also received a fresh enquiry on Freddie Woodman last week from Oxford United.

But United opted against the approach for the England Under-21 youngster who spent last season on loan at Aberdeen.

Benitez said: “Freddie we have to analyse carefully because we still have decisions to make there.”

How can we never get a youth prospect on loan to a Championship club? Rhetorical question I guess as it's obviously because our youth prospects are normally shit. But this is one of the most highly rated young 'keepers in England. And only Oxford are willing to take a punt?

Need a club to want him though. No idea what's gone in behind the scenes but he only had two offers and both from League 1 apparently so I suspect Rafa felt he was better off staying here and working with Dubravka until January and trying to find a better club for a loan then.

The Chronicle have said on more than one occasions that there were a few clubs in for him in the Summer but Lee Charnley blocked any loan moves because he has not signed a new contract.

That's the way to make him want to sign one :idiot2:

The Three Lions Under-21 keeper spent last season on loan at Aberdeen but United managing director Lee Charnley would not sanction a loan deal this summer due to a contract issue.
