He's ok. End of.

As others have said numerous times on here, not one of the current squad have something that we couldn't replace. Ben Arfa, Carroll, Ba all had something that we wouldn't be able to replace easily.

Wouldn't want to see him injured out of his career but naturally I'd like to see the curse that hit Given, Carroll, Ba, Cabaye, Enrique, Bassong, Remy. Thre will be exceptions but it does seem in general that leave here whenwe like you and your career is on the up.......and it kind of hits the buffers.

Just wait until October when he joins science as a scape goat. Will realise the monumental fuck up he made, joining that blame hurling cunt bag of a manager.

Disappointed like most about this. You could almost understand him wanting to move if he'd signed in the summer and bought into the top eight and cup run shite. But he joined in January, under McClaren,  when we were already fucked. To bail now when, despite relegation, the club are starting to feel truly United with the city and the fans, and we have one of the best managers in Europe, and go to Palace and play under Pardew. Well then fuck him, and fuck him really hard. Right in the face.

He signed with a contract that would allow him to leave should we get relegated. Both parties agreed. This was always on the cards.

He will realise he has made a massive mistake half an hour into his first game for them, when he is standing alongside his own fullback watching the ball hurtling in the air to a lonely figure in the opposition half. Get used to that covering your fullback.

It's the destination that's the problem though.

Well, yeah its not ideal. But he'd probably agree with you too on that one.

I agree, and I think it was a good clause as it turns out, we don't need players who don't get this club. He'll go the same way as Remy, cork-screwing downwards to oblivion.

Will be Townsend's 12th club aged 24

Omg, is that some kind of record at that age.

Gonna be off again when Pardew ruins him.

Wildly disingenuous, that - they're pretty much all loans. He joined us - his local club - at the age of eight, and we only sold him last year, at the age of 27 24.

I think he's making a mistake, mind.

He's still only 24 - a season in the Championship under Rafa could have been the making of the player.  If we miss promotion he probably then could have the pick of clubs.

What idiot would leave that to play under Pardew for anything other than ££££.

If Pardew is seen by Townsend a most of the media inexplicably see him (good, solid manager) then you can see why Townsend might have had his head turned, easy route to the premier league, arguably more chance to show his stuff to get a permanent England spot and if he has a good season someone in the top half might come in for him anyway.

From his point of view it makes sense, we were just daft enough to believe he had some affinity for us and Rafa for plucking him from the obscurity of the Spurs reserves and getting his career back on track, could have given us till Jan.

Can see both sides really, but that's the way of football these days, no loyalty at all.

Perhaps the fact that there will be a new England manager is also a factor especially if he is a foreigner.  He will have to prove himself all over again and chances are he would be ignored in the Championship.
