Would be interesting to see if there is consistency in opinions over there with those who are using this as an opportunity to bin him (given his performance) with the opinions held on Johnson at the time  who was a key component in the squad.

I suspect I already know the answer.  If he was 14th it would be 'He slaps who he wants...'

listening to Gary Bennet, who was seen talking to short recently- he has been making it clear they want to stick with him long term and rebuild.

probs the best thing they could do as a club tbh.

They are a club that clearly needs relegation and change the whole club.

They're £180m debt. Relegation is the last thing they need! If they go down they aren't doing what we're doing and coming straight back up either.

We are £150m in the red for context.  It's just numbers.

Yeah it may, and probably would have been, good for them a few years ago to break the downward spiral of a wasteful transfer policy and changing managers every season.

It's too late now. Their hole has got a whole lot deeper and it could be a long painful period without the premier league cash.

It really isn't tbf. We are in debt to our owner and pay (virtually) no interest on that. They are over £180m.in debt and are reported to be paying 8% interest on a lot of that which is crippling them. Plus we are a far bigger club than they are and are capable of generating far more money than they do.

Ask Portsmouth, Coventry, Bolton or Leeds fans if debt is merely just numbers.

Apparently Defoe missed training today.

That actually might help them.  They've only scored in 1 of the last games.

He's literally their only threat though

True, but when you have only scored in 1 game in nearly 3 months worth of games, maybe a change of approach and personnel help them.

Those January signings have made a real difference.

Sunderland'a debt outstanding to a bank is not even comparable to essentially an intercompany "loan" from our owner but all good.

This is another embarrassing story for that club. Hope they get relegated and never return to the top flight.
