Quite realistic to say there's a good chance they won't win any of their first 4 games.

We got five from those four games last year. Should have been at least seven. Think they've got Barnsley away after that too.

This is probably the strongest Championship set of teams I've ever seen, don't think Sunderland will get out of this any time soon, if at all. Maybe Swindon/Tremere levels of capitulation :)

That league has rapidly turned into Prem Division 2, its so strong now.  It must be one of the strongest leagues in the world.

Surprised the Villa vs Hull game wasn't the opening Friday TV game with both being strong favourites for promotion and the Steve Bruce factor.

People commenting on how Sunderland have a tough start, they also look to have a tough finish.

The bit in the middle isn't looking too promising either. But apart from that they should be ok

The league just looks tough this year. They seem to have a lot of tough away games in the first half of the season then you look at the 2nd half and they look tricky as well.

The answer resides amid a catalogue of appalling buys by assorted managers. Damningly, Sunderland sold no player on for a profit between August 2011 and January 2017 and have made money on only five of the last 48 they have traded. As Asoro added: “Sunderland have had a lot of money, it’s just they haven’t used it properly.”

Wow

Simon Mignolet?

Kaboul & McClean too

Noticed that. Rafa always said April would be decisive for us. Their six in April (and maybe even the last game against Wolves if they finally get their shit together) look tough. Not sure I can see them winning close on 30 games, although a lot can change between now and the start of the season. Will be watching their first game with increased interest considering we've just been down there and know the teams/standard a little better now.

Would be surprised if they made a profit on Kaboul, Watford only paid £3.5m for him.  Definitely made a small profit on McClean and quite a good profit on Mignolet though

fair enough, I had a look here - http://www.transferleague.co.uk/sunderland/english-football-teams/sunderland-transfers

Says they bought him for 3m and sold for 4m. Could be wrong though

Got McClean for 350k, sold 2m
