Palace, Swansea, Norwich and Villa and dare I say it the Mackems are the teams we should be looking to win against. Anything against Leicester or Southampton would be a bonus. Have written off the Citeh, Liverpool and Spurs games.

City and Spurs are likely to be dead rubbers when they come around. They are exactly the sort of games where a team in the bottom 4 or 5 pick up random wins against the top 4.

For me its only Southampton that we are nailed on to get zip from, every other game has potential for at least a point if we apprach them right. Not including Leicester in the zip's as god only knows how we'll turn up tonight. A point will be a massive bonus though

We have to stay up like. We will never have a manager of this quality again, stay up and the summer will be the most optimistic I have been for a long, long time.

I wish the stakes weren't so fucking high, it's annoying after so much apathy!

Why write off those games? Spurs could well have nothing to play for by then and we beat them at WHL? Man City could have nothing to play for in the PL (2 away wins since xmas) and also have CL commitments. They were woeful against Norwich. We play Liverpool 4 days before a potential Europa League semi final which is their only route to CL football next year.

I fully expect us to lose all three but football has a habit of surprising you.

The trouble is that the same also applied to Sunderland and Norwich.  I don't know their fixtures only that both supposedly have a harder run-in compared to us.  But if those games are against teams that have nothing to play for or are resting players for cup games, there will be unpredictable results amongst them.  And the usual top teams have been pretty rubbish this year anyway.

I am also hoping that Palace get carried away with their cup run and continue to lose league games so they get dragged into it.

We have added pressure to stay up now, following yesterday's result at the Emirates ; Arsenal going out of the Cup and, to all intents and purposes, fading from a PL championship challenge may just be the nudge their board need to bring Wenger's time as manager to an end, esp as Spurs are going so well.

I need hardly tell anyone who the prime candidate would be to replace him should we fail to stay up and should Ashley/Charnley start backing down on transfer commitments even if we DO survive.......

And it won't be Allardyce...!

Tonight's game just became far more important....

Erm... there's no way Rafa ends up at Arsenal like. At all. I think his time at that level of club is over. Nowadays you need to play the right football to get those jobs unless you're uber successful.

I like it when they make those lists and embolden verbs for emphasis but end up running out of good ones. It's always something like:

The Eastenders star:

ROMPED in a ritzy hotel room all night

SNORTED line after line of cocaine

SMASHED furniture in a drug-addled rage

LOOKED at hardcore pornography

WENT to a gay bar and danced all night

Carragher:

'They had to change something because, as we've said before, they can't get rid of their players. I think if some clubs could they would, because they've got a lot of poor players which is why they're down there'.

Carragher 4 paragraphs later:

'The quality of player they have there they shouldn't be fighting relegation or be second bottom in the league'.

That should be surprising but isn't, the quality of ex-pro commentary is appalling.

The criteria seems to be:

a) Did you play for Liverpool?

b) Can you ramble incessantly often in a contradictory way, justify every dodgy Liverpool decision and see them even now as one of the games 'greats'

Carragher, Hanson, Souness, Redknapp, Murphy, Kennedy, Thompson and manay more besides.  All completely useless and innately thick

Promising Chronicle article with Rafa regarding Graham Carr. Think that relationship will work out fine tbh.

Really good one on his face to face meeting with Ayoze too. All sounding so good. Just need to get these results now.

I wonder how Carr sees his own position at the club now that his best mate was sacked, too late even. With Rafa already bringing his own people in, is Carr still untouchable in the eyes of the hierarchy? About time for the old man to retire or just act as a lowly scout.
