Gallowgate Toon
Would absolutely take a punt on Traore. For all the talk that he's just got pace, his dribbling is his best asset. He could be a fantastic option on the counter and, at 21, he's got loads and loads of time to improve with one of the world's best coaches. That said, I wouldn't be happy if he was one of our first choice wingers. Him, Aarons and Atsu as back-up would be very decent, but Aarons should really be getting loan time under his belt. Carvalho apart, we've not been linked to any superstars so far, and I'm sure that's absolutely Rafa's call. He's a 'team above all' kind of guy anyway, but I reckon he'll be thinking it's especially important in our current situation. He'll be looking to protect one of the strongest elements of this squad, morale, and be building a team with players that require specific attributes so we can have some tactical advantage in games. I think we'll bring in around 7/8 in total, but I don't think the majority of those will get done until August. Our current predicament leans itself to getting deals that fall out of transfer activity with other clubs. It's frustrating as, but we know Ashley isn't going to spend a single penny of his own (last year was different).
Village Idiot
Adama Traoré was an extremely frustating player. Scary pace and power, but plays with the blinders on. Given the fact that he hasn't even nailed a starting spot for Boro I don't think he's changed much from the player he was at Barça B. I can see his sheer athleticism being an asset to throw from the bench, but not somebody I'd feel comfortable starting in the Premier League, really. Figures 1-0 Football
Whilst I wasn't his biggest fan when he was at Man City, Navas would be a superb signing on a free for a newly promoted club like us (which I think people forget we are, at times). Altamullan
Saw him scare the s**** out of Man City. From memory it was more that there was very little support/options in the box (not least as nobody is going to keep up with him, even with the ball at his feet) for him to find rather than poor delivery which limited his impact. STM
Would be a class signing for no fee. Take some pressure off Richie on the other side.
Village Idiot
His delivery has always been erratic, but if used well Navas can be really effective. Also, how is 1.5m a problem in this day and age? Even assuming AS is reporting after tax wages (as is the Spanish custom), that's like 50k a week?

toon25
How old is he? 32? If he's free, he's better than what we've currently got.

If Rafa has had a word, hopefully we can get it done.

They and Atsu are all better on the same side I think most wingers can swap wings pretty easily, without impeaching their game. Put it this way, all three are a vast upgrade on Gouffran on the left and are capable in that position.

Village Idiot
I think most wingers can swap wings pretty easily, without impeaching their game. That's not true. The dynamics of the position change a lot when you're on your wrong foot. Navas in particular was terrible on the left for Sevilla.

I can understand players like Beckham struggling, whos game was very much crossing based. Players who dribble and try to move past people should be able to adapt. A bit concerning if we end up too heavy on right sided players.

Teasy
Why would those demands hold the deal up? Its peanuts, Colback is probably on more than that.

Guest firetotheworks
I could see people getting on Navas's back because even in highlights for another team he's frustrating. I definitely think he has his uses though, and I'd back Rafa to get the most out of him. On a free it's a no-brainer, he'd immediately improve the squad. xLiaaamx
On the subject of Wingers swapping sides, I actually think Ritchie does it better than anyone else we have right now. Mostly since his game is based on off the ball movement alot
Guest
Guess we'd see Ritchie switch to the left, or even more central?
