Away Day Gadgie
His imaginary header when he takes the corner that sets up Lascelles is class I need to see this. They didn't show it on MOTD.

AyeDubbleYoo
If you don't do imaginary headers you don't love football IMO.
HawK
If you don't do imaginary headers you don't love football IMO. I'd bet a fair whack that the Red Bull he drinks in the tunnel is not the first he has before the match. Fast becoming one of my favourite NUFC players, he's our little radgie
madras
If you don't do imaginary headers you don't love football IMO. Just headers ? I've been known to kick the seat in front when we have a shooting chance.

joeyt
Was looking to see who had the most assists for us in a PL season to see if he had a chance of beating them and Nobby got 16 assists in 1999/00 season. Didn't go any further back than that
Guest
I'm sure Robert got 18 in 2001/02.
joeyt
I was just going off this, no idea if it's accurate or not https://www.statbunker.com/competitions/MostAssists?comp_id=76&club_id=
Disco
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist According to the PL Nobby got 15 that season.
Guest
They look off. That has Robert down as 11 assists the season we came 4th. He had way more unless they've since changed the definition of an assist and swiped some off him. ..
Guest firetotheworks
Nobby isn't even on the 02/03 list as well.
themanupstairs
Don't think they took assists very seriously back then did they? Feels like a relatively new thing.
Guest
Opta Index used to. I remember there being a big thing at the time that Robert had more assists than Pires who was the best player in the league that season.
Kanj
Fact that assists is very loosely used in years past in the sport cracks me the hell up considering how heavily it's used in other sports like hockey, basketball, etc.

It's still not talked about to the level it maybe should be.
Guest firetotheworks
I don't ever remember it not being taken seriously tbh. I dunno where that's come from.
Minhosa
I don't ever remember it not being taken seriously tbh. I dunno where that's come from. Nah - that's definetely right. Back in the early premiership days, they were hardly given any real kudos. Top scorers were where it was at. Hardly anywhere near the level of statistical analysis that is done now and we're still miles behind many American sports for it.
joeyt
Presume the increase in people doing fantasy football means they get taken more seriously too

Hardly anywhere near the level of statistical analysis that is done now and we're still miles behind many American sports for it. I remember it completely differently tbh. Or at least creativity and chance creation was massively lauded. Just off the top of my head I remember Cantona, Giggs, Beardsley, Ripley, McManaman, Le Tissier being singled out as being big deals because of their creativity, chance creation, assists, whatever you want to call it. There's a possibility that it really started to become a bigger deal when Beckham was putting it on a plate and became much more a part of goals than the actual goalscorer, but I don't think it was ever ignored.
