Guest
Selling Ritchie and then buying Kenedy leaves us worse off than the end of the January transfer window like. If the Mitrovic money buys a striker then I’d say it’s significantly stronger than when the deadline ended.

Some huge if's going on. What realistic striker could that even be?

LoveItIfWeBeatU
Ritchie scored more goals than Kenedy from when Kenedy arrived in January. Ritchie is a model pro. £15m isn't even that much these days. NUFC bought him for £12m. Why would he want to go back to the Championship? There's a lot of players I'd sell before Ritchie. I suppose it depends who other clubs are interested in buying.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
Kenedy is as much a NUFC player as Mitro is a Fulham player. At the moment our wingers are Ritchie, Murphy, Atsu and Aarons. Sell Ritchie, maybe buy Kenedy and who is now our first choice right winger?

We should be able to have both. And that's if a) Kenedy is even available b) won't have better offers than us, highly likely.

Ketsbaia
We already needed a winger after losing Kenedy, now we'd need two? No thanks, especially if one if Townsend. I just have no faith in our ability to sign anyone.
Wallsendmag
Ritchie has been one of our most important players since we signed him. Model pro off the pitch and a leader on it. No confidence at all in our ability to attract a better player to replace him with the money Ashley will want to pay.
Pilko
We're blatantly shaping up for anothet Anita summer. One in and no major outgoings and we're supposed to thank our lucky stars we swatted away these moderate bids for our best players. "We've not lost anyone and now we've got Anita" or whatever it was that Pardew said that year.

xLiaaamx
Aye but he was a "tidy passer", whatever the hell that means.

Dokko
Yup, not selling a player is equal to signing one at the minute. No confidence we'll bring in a replacement.
Mr Logic
We will though, no way Rafa lets players go without it meaning incoming. (prays)

FinnMag
Why selling Ritchie? It does not make any sense
LRD
Surely Rafa will only sanction the sale if there's a replacement?
HaydnNUFC
Why selling Ritchie? It does not make any sense It only makes sense if Kenedy is coming in or someone Rafa wants is. But given the club's history at getting deals done, I doubt both.
Mole_Toonfan
I've been very critical of him and don't rate him anywhere near as high as most do but clearly we shouldn't be selling him unless there's a deal in place for someone better. Which the history of this club under Ashley suggests won't happen.
sixx
Preferably we shouldn't be getting rid of any of Ritchie, Mbemba, Mitrovic and Merino. They're all PL quality and we need depth just as much as we need to bring in new players. Shipping out Ritchie would particularly be a travesty. Not that he's such a great winger, we should actually be looking for a replacement for him in the starting XI but he's obviously a leader in the dressing room and he's perfectly capable as a back up. Astroblack
Man, that'd be a blow. He's a strong character and the more of those we have, the better. I like having him in the team as he's capable of scoring and creating chances.
LRD
I do think he is replaceable. The only question is can we get better for the 15m we generate from the sale.
