Mo Diamé to be released

People love just blaming the same people all the time, regardless of performance

He was better today at times, he still lost the ball in the build up to their goal. We were attacking and he got caught.

That was Perez

No the build up to them getting the ball in the first place before we cleared it to go on the counter when Perez was then caught was due to Diame also losing it. Both of them made errors that cost us. To be honest whoever passed it to Perez probably made a dodgy choice given he was under pressure and they know what he's like.

Yes - when they're s***.

What did he do that badly tonight? He gassed badly obviously around 60 minutes in but up until then he was probably as good/better than basically all our team bar Shelvey, Atsu and the centre halves

- Miles off the pace.

- Leaving huge gaps when 'closing' down which was actually just a general stroll in the direction of the man/ball.

- Poor distribution.

- Biggest bloke in the midfield and had no presence nor could he win a header.

- Slower than a two wheeled tanker.

He got nutmegged a couple times in our half which put us in shit situations aswell. Hayden would just take the man and ball. But not Big Mo.

He overhit and underhit simple passes all night giving the player receiving the ball less time on it, which is critical against pressing teams like Burnley. He gave the ball away stupidly at least two times, one nearly leading to a clear cut chance. Just those things alone are enough. Hayden, Shelvey & Merino are much sharper mentally, physically & technically. No reason for him to play, he's not good enough.

I agree he shouldn't play. I just think we had much much bigger issues tonight

Fair enough. I think our biggest problem tonight was players in certain key positions not being good enough. Diame was one of them. Joselu another. We were set up well, Shelvey was clearly the best player on the park but we need someone next to him to free him up, it's crucial. He's our most important player and can win games like this with the room. Diame isn't a good enough or assured enough player to free Shelvey up, Merino is brilliant at it, Hayden good at it.

He was pretty decent 1st half. Then his legs went. No need for the vitriol imo. He should have been subbed when he tired. He wasn't. Not his fault. His age has caught up with him and he can only go for so long.

He hasn't got the stamina to start games.  He should only ever be a sub IMO.

Well, yesterday says different. He started and was fine for the 1st half.

No it doesn't

So you're saying it's ok for a player to start even if he can only last 45 minutes?  It's a waste of a sub.  He'd be better coming on with 20 minutes to go so he'd be up against tired opponents and less risk of him tiring himself.

Last night's options were Colback or an apparently injured Hayden. Judging by Diame's performance i could see no problem starting him. He should have come off sooner imo.
