Shows how much things have changed when it's a Gateshead XI going to Blyth Spartans for a friendly and the first-team are going to Blyth Town.

Looking at that Blyth Spartans squad announcement earlier in the week it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that they'll be relegated yet again next season as well.

Is Heaton Stan cashless? Might go and watch their friendly this afternoon

Can pay either way unless it’s changed since last season.

Parked just somewhere nearby with a permissive looking parking restrictions board, no idea if it was legit or not. Great little setup here and loving the 70s film soundtrack mixtape

Have you got your wooly hat with pom pom on ? (Hoxton bonnet). It's the North East Non League hipster club.

I'm an Alnwick Town season ticket holder for three consecutive years man, I'm now entitled to travel anywhere without hipster accusations I reckon

I don't even know who's Stan and who's Benfield like

No, I was there last night for the comprehensive and unexpected demolition of what I assume was not anything like Whickham's first team but I'll miss Tuesday I think

Cheers for the tip off, didn't know about this game until I read your post. Sun is shining and £3.70 for a pint of Anarchy Blonde Star - what's not to like?

It's a bit short on quality (no idea if these are anything like the regular first elevens, I feel like Benfield just about shaded the first half) but aye can't object to a sunny game in July for £4. Alnwick last night was like November

Seaton Deleval and Wallington are both experiences not to be missed. Faded glory and a field respectively. Rothbury short on quality but what a place to play football

Aye had an eye on Wallington for a while. Might look to go early season while the seasonal bus to the Hall is running, make a day of it. Seaton Delaval easy on the Northumberland Line now although I have wanted to do it with Whitley (they often play them in pre-season).

Dunno whatever happened with Rothbury doing the work to their pitch. They had a planning application approved to formalise it all with a clubhouse and stuff a few years ago - I presume with the intention to go up through the leagues but don't believe it ever went anywhere.

Have you ever seen it? The groundwork needed would be phenomenal, and they get gates of about six and don't charge entry. It would be amazing but I can't see anything ever happening. Literally the only flattish part of the site is the pitch, everything else is cut into the hill. There's a huge drop-off on two edges of the pitch, people are up and down retrieving balls the whole time.

Yeah, I've heard a couple of people talking about it so it must have been serious at some point but if ever a project just wasn't feasible, it's that. Incredible place to watch a game but the constraints are very constraining there

Was there some trouble with the young'uns at Heaton Stan today? Saw a few posts on the Blue Star fans WhatsApp mention it. Someone said what Benfield did today was embarrassing and called them the scum of the north east. Was a pic of 2 lads people were wanting to identify on there.

Just the usual noisy kids was what I saw but I left before the end. Was driving past just after FT and the Benfield kids were all running away from the ground looking pretty suspicious
