All came up Disco today.

Stan won 3-0 in the FA Cup and into the first QR. Whitley won 3-0 against Carlisle to go clear at the top of NL1 and Heed get a good away win in the Conference (first goal an absolute pearler).

Spartans losing again in the cup doesn’t bode well after an already shit start.

The National League can confirm its acceptance of the takeover of Morecambe Football Club.

The National League can confirm that following a meeting of their Club Compliance and Licensing committee earlier today, the takeover of the Club by the consortium known as Panjab Warriors Ltd has been approved.

The suspension of Morecambe FC will therefore be immediately lifted on receipt of the signed Sale and Purchase agreement.

However, the transfer embargo will remain until all football creditors, including players, staff and HMRC have been paid and payments due under the Sale and Purchase agreement have been satisfied.

It is the intention for Morecambe's first National League game to be on Saturday 23 August at home against Altrincham FC.

The National League would like to welcome the new owners and to thank everybody involved in helping to secure the future of the Club and reaching this point.

Whatever happened to Crumpy by the way?

Think I seen him at North Shields v Blue Star the other week. Took me a while to think of where I recognise him from but think he used to organise toon away coaches? Unless I'm thinking of someone completely different.

Aye think that's him. Used to be/might still be a driving instructor iirc. Came to my house a few times as I'd get the odd spare tickets for him that he'd get for people on his bus.

Ashvir Singh Johal has become the first Sikh to take charge of a professional British club with his appointment as Morecambe manager.

The 30-year-old also becomes the youngest manager in the top five tiers of English football.

The Shrimps were taken over by the Panjab Warriors consortium on Sunday, ending a lengthy period of uncertainty for the National League club.

Singh Johal, who has never managed a first-team side, replaces Derek Adams, who was sacked on Monday.

Singh Johal has previously worked under Kolo Toure at Wigan and as an assistant to Cesc Fabregas during his time with the youth team at Italian side Como.

Top class grief directed at a dog who got onto the pitch at Sunderland RCA this weekend, "get off, you're useless.  You've got two left feet"

I remember a visit years ago to RCA following South Shields when they were Northern League.

Shields scored and the supporters behind the goal all sang "and it's all gone quiet over there", pointing further behind them.......to the local cemetery. 😄

Blyth win 2-1. First win of the season and something to build on. :)

Dominated that spell after HT which got them over the line. Absolutely horrendous challenge for the pen. Defender wasn’t ever getting there. Shodeinde looks a step up on the rest of them.

Edit: forgot to say the Aycliffe goal was a proper worldie, best goal I’ve seen in person for a fair while.

Harrogate beat Barrow. Deserved to be 3 up at half time, spent the second half in Newcastle under brewce mode. Luckily barrow striker got injured with no subs left essentially leaving them a man down for the last 10.

It's impressive what they've done with the ground, as they were very limited on space. It's regularly selling out 3k, which 12 years ago was unthinkable with 270 people there.

Am I right in thinking Railway used to be the bigger club? Vague memories of when they played each other in the cup (if that indeed happened)

Yes back in the 80s.

The fa cup game was before I was here but I remember it being on look north.

Unfortunately railway is falling to bits now though hopefully they can make some progress this year.

The ground itself is much bigger than towns footprint and it has a class clubhouse. Shame the pitch is horrifically hilly and the stand barely touched since the 80s

They don't even get Harrogate kids on loan anymore because the gap is too big.

Brilliant game at Alnwick finished 1-1, as good a game as you'll see anywhere. Red Star (NL1 last season and went into this in first place) holding on by the end and desperately timewasting for the point for the last ten or fifteen.  Alnwick again looking very good indeed, there's a nice feelgood buzz around St James' Park at the minute.

I went in 2009. There could have only been a few hundred there. Like you say crazy the progress they've made since then.

Went to Railway last year with Whitley and enjoyed it - but it's mad how similar it was to when I went to Town 15 years earlier.
