This Blyth situation is becoming ridiculous, although grimly predictable the moment that owner rocked up. Redcar had some money behind them on the NL but they're still newly promoted.

Surely they can't go down again? Spartans in the NL would be horrendous for non league football in the north east.

Lost 4-1. I was thinking about going, but still feeling knackered after having Covid - so didn't bother.

I was worried for Alnwick today with 85% of the first team injured, on holiday or at Oasis but they played out the most entertaining 0-0 I've seen for decades with FC Hartlepool. Really good game and given the cobbled together nature of the team and the formation a really good result too.   Pleased they're getting some points on the board before they hit their traditional October to February slump

Are the crowds dwindling as they deteriorate? I always wonder whether clubs with reasonable infrastructure like Spartans would actually survive a fall to a lower league structure (see also: Terriers)

Seems as if there was a healthy crowd at CP today (not sure on number) - it won't last though if the form of recent years continues. As I understand it - these lads would perhaps struggle to hold their own in NL1. :(

Why can't they get better players in? I don't understand this. Blyth are a very big club in the division they now find themselves in.

Have to ask the local consortium of businessmen that came in to save the club. Rumor has it they put in 90k to pay off issues from the previous owner. I think they are arguing that the club has to be self-sustaining which I can see to a point - but the rot has to be stopped.

Hell of a hit  did the wind keep it from the keeper?  Looks like he should have got to it comfortably, might just be the angle like

Was windy asf!

All adds to the drama. Keeper should have got near it.

I'm not sure, he's a local lad and I used to work indirectly with his dad but I'm not sure of the wider family. He's a gifted player like, could play at a much higher level.

Speaking of high levels

Euan Potts now has 11 in 5, somebody was saying he was national top scorer in all leagues

Dunston beat Blyth T and Conny beat Blyth S in the Northern Premier League East. Whitley flying in the Northern League. Looking like the next only NE postcode team that has a shot of promotion thus far.

Redcar v Stan in the Corblasico tomorrow.

Spartans biffed again as well. Look forward to playing them in NL1 next season :shifty: it's less of a drive than most fixtures

On that, happy to finally be sharing a division with Tow Law though. That's a place I've always wanted to go and now I have an excuse to

Take the big coat whenever you go to Tow Law, their ground's the sort of place you need a hat and gloves even in the summer

 been to Esh Winning a couple of times, grand old ground that one, and Alnwick's St. James' Park is pretty brutal through the winter, but aye I'm expecting it to be pretty exposed
