Optimistic Nut
Gateshead 4-0 in the end but it wouldn't be a mega surprise if these two were in the same division next year.
Wallsendmag
Aye it's going to be a long old season for Gateshead you feel. The Conference is brutal these days amd if you aren't prepared, and I don't think they are, you'll suffer.
Dr.Spaceman
Four going down and only two going up with one automatic and six going into the play-offs is absolutely brutal like.

Drove past a couple of lads in Spartans tops opposite Crook's ground at about half 6 last night so thought they must have been playing them. Intrigued now as to whether they'd gone to the wrong place or were just waiting for the bus

I'd be pretty surprised. Gateshead may well go down, but Hebburn probably more concerned with staying up this season than going up. Paully will know more of the ins and outs, but they did struggle significantly in the second half of last season and have lost their captain and one of their better players to Stockton. Big Geordie
Bedlington Terriers have been locked out of Dr Pit Park, by Northumberland County Council. They've been arguing about the lease for some time (to do with the installation of a 3G pitch) Council have boarded the ground up today - all entrances. etc. Not been a good year for the Terriers - I believe they were relegated back to the Northern Alliance after a very difficult season. OpenC
Aye they were, a fair few of us were wondering if they'd be able to carry on at Alliance level. Been quite the fall for them. Happily replaced by Newbiggin in NL2 so we still have a derby.

The days of Northern League Championships, FA Vase and FA Cup runs and John Milner, seem a long time ago now. The Perry brothers have still been involved with the running of the club for some years, but things have taken a huge downturn. Mind, they did invite Reform to sponsor a game towards the end of last season. Went down like a lead balloon online.

Looked like they were going to be onto a winner at one point when that American billionaire Bob Rich got involved with them after discovering he had an ancestral link with Bedlington. He even bought the title Lord Bedlington! Remember he bought them that huge scoreboard, chucked 30 grand at them, and even flew the entire team, management and Commitee out to America as well. Rumour has it that their drunken antics out there were what made him decide he wanted nothing to do with them but not sure if that's true or if he just got bored of his new toy. It's a shame what's happened to them all the same. Anyway I'm off to watch Benfield v Berwick Rangers tomorrow. Weather forecast looking lovely so think I might have a walk along to the Lochside first and make use of that nice big beer garden they have.

OpenC
At Coldstream with Alnwick today, a ground I would not otherwise be getting to and hopefully photogenic

Yeah it's absolutely immaculate, can't get all the way around the pitch but the best views will be from the footpath running down to the main street so all good. Couple of pints before kickoff and everybody's happy
ponsaelius
I went the other week for their friendly against Whickham, double header with a first visit to The Stanks in the evening. It's a nice little ground and pleasant place as well. The little free museum in the town had a programme from the game vs Ardiles' NUFC. Funtime Frankie
Headed down to Heaton Stannington vs Morpeth but game was cancelled at the 11th hour so headed to the victory instead. I was looking forward to a live football fix.
OpenC
VAR controversy at Coldstream. All of the ball, all of the line? This is the furthest in I got it and my camera shoots ten frames a second so it's not going to be too far off the decisive moment. The more I look at it the more dubious it appears NO won't let me upload a proper high res image unfortunately Edited July 12, 2025 by OpenC

OpenC
It was given by the linesman, 20 yards back, who was one of our coaches Honestly though, what a place to play football. Tremendous
Wallsendmag
Went to watch Newcastle Benfield v Berwick Rangers. Good game of football and a good travelling supoort down from Berwick. Benfield 1-0 up at HT but Berwick far better 2nd half and ran out 2-1 winners, also having a couple of goals disallowed as well. First time I've been to Benfield for a good few years. Smashing set up they've got there now.
Big Geordie
Blyth Spartans lost 2-1 at home to Darlington. I didn't go (dog sitting at home) - but some of the lads who went said that plenty of promise was shown.
